Located inside the Suria KLCC shopping mall, Melur & Thyme is a newly setup restaurant that rebrand from Duck & Such, serving comfort foods from both the Asian and Western cuisine.
Although the dining area is not that spacious, owner did put in a lot of effort to create the welcoming warm dining ambience. With its modern contemporary interior design, diners are easily being brought into the charming gastronomic world of Melur & Thyme.
Leafty Fruity Salad (RM12)
A refreshing salad tossed with date vinaigrette and has plenty of healthy ingredients including dragon fruits, kiwi, orange fruits, pistachio nuts, walnuts, cherry tomatoes, grated mozzarella, orange cheddar, and quail eggs.
Queso de Mahon (RM19 small; RM27 large)
Never judge a book by its cover!
This simply toothsome appetizer was my favorite in the dinner. Covered with Japanese breadcrumbs, the goat cheese was deep fried till crisp golden brown. Drizzles of honey on top gives it a sweet taste to contrast with the light saltiness from the nice flavor of cheese inside. Simple and I like how both the flavors mix inside my taste buds.
Peking Duck (RM29)
Melur & Thyme own redition of Peking Duck, to wrap with ‘Roti Jala’ instead of thin sliced rice sheet skin. Served together with 3 varieties of chef’s special dipping sauces, the sour plum, hoisin, and sambal, each flavor gives the duck meat a different taste of experience.
In my guess, Melur & Thyme named this dish as Peking Duck is just to refer the wrapping way of eating it. Not much on the crisp crunchy skin, the duck meat however is tender enough for my liking.
Grilled Lamb Cutlet (RM25 small; RM34 large)
The lamb cutlet was well marinated before chef grilled it to perfection. Without much the gaminess taste, most of the flavor is from the red pepper marmalade and melted goat cheese on top.
Grandma’s Hokkien Mee (RM22)
Asian loves noodles! Slurp while served warm, this bowl of Hokkien Mee comes with a generous portion of prawns, fish cakes and an assortment of vegetables. It served together with sliced red chili, light soy sauce and sambal, diners can flavor the fragrance broth according to individual’s taste buds.
Chocolate Pecan Pie (RM15)
Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake (RM10)
Under Melur & Thyme’s dessert list, the ‘Death by Chocolate’ series really caught my attention. Offering 5 different types, Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Pecan Pie, Durian Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Cheese Cake, and Chocolate Banana Muffin with Cream Cheese, diners are truly pampered by its sinfully rich chocolate texture.
We tried both the Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake and Chocolate Pecan Pie. Not overwhelm sweet in taste, the desserts were simple but perfect to conclude our dinner with. Satisfied!
