Every culture has its own unique attraction in the food cuisine. Located in Ampang, Goong Korean BBQ Restaurant invites you to experience one of the Korean bbq styles, the Seo Seo Galbi way.

I admit, sometimes I will do other stuffs while eating my food, like walking around, chatting, and drinking, which I am glad it is completely accepted here! Seo Seo Galbi is my new liking way to do bbq now.

The grill table is made out of a metal drum. Foods and drinks will be served around the grill table, along with the Korean peppers, red pepper paste, raw garlics and onions. Well basically, that’s all what you need, stand there, place your food on top of the grill, watch it, flip it, and after it is cooked, grab it, blow it, and then put it into your mouth. So really, I don’t quite see how the table and chair fit well into the whole cooking and eating process.

To me, bbq session is a fun and interactive way to get all the diners closer. Without the table and chair, diners are ‘forced’ to stand around the grill table, and while waiting the foods to be cooked, drinking soju and chatting among each others. Not bad right the whole idea, I actually enjoyed it very much.

Goong offers 3 different promotional sets for their customers to choose from:

1. Set A, Pork Combo (RM50)

– Pork Belly (Samgyeopsal)
– Pork Neck (Moksal Sogumgul)
– Free 1 bottle of Soju

2. Set B, Seafood Combo (RM80)

– Squid (Ojingeo)
– Octopus (Sannakji)
– Prawns (Saeu Gui)
– Black Clams (Jogae)
– Free 1 bottle of Soju

3. Set A and Set B (RM120)

Janchi Guksu (RM17)

We ordered few a la carte as well during the enjoyable dinner. Janchi Guksu is a Korean noodle dish with wheat flour noodles cooked in the light broth. Looking at its toppings, it is definitely worth the money paid. Slurp to my satisfaction.

Japchae (RM30)

Made from sweet potato noodles, Japchae is another signature classic Korean dish that I must order. Stir fried in sesame oil with different vegetables and sliced meats, I like its springy texture and the nice fragrance aroma.

Overall, it was a fun dining experience. We had a great ‘BBQ Chef’ and managed to polish everything off quite fast. The aroma of charcoal smoke gave the grilled foods a very fine flavor. To those who like Korean BBQ, you should at least come and give this Seo Seo Galbi a try!
