Hotel Armada Petaling Jaya is having its ‘Flavours of the Mediterranean’ promotion from 1st October till 31st December 2013 at the Utara Coffee House. Priced starting from RM20++ onwards, the choices are quite variety, offering some of Chef Chew Teik Chye, the Executive Chef of Hotel Armada Petaling Jaya, best cooked Mediterranean dishes.
Crustacean Platter (RM35)
A beautiful plated Crustacean Platter that consists of gratinated shrimp scampi sat on the spaghetti, baked oyster with rockefeller and mixture of Parmesan and Mozzarella, and stuffed octopus in zucchini, which pre-marinated in sesame oil that infused with chili flakes, gives it a nice fragrant with hint of spiciness.
Asparagus and Cheese Risotto (RM22)
This is one of my favorite Mediterranean dishes. Topped with fresh crunchy asparagus, the risotto tasted just nice in its starchy texture and not too overpowering with the cheese flavor. Chef cooked the firm and chewy Arborio rice in chicken bone stock and later mixed it with the Parmesan cheese before serving to patrons.
Grilled Romesco Tiger Prawn (RM26)
My favorite spaghetti dish that chef paired it with a nice succulent grilled tiger prawn. It was simply toothsome to have it together with the Romesco sauce, a nut and red pepper-based sauce originated from Spain, which chef flavored it with pimento (chili pepper), chopped tomato, almond flakes, and drops of olive oil. Fresh sautéed veggies are served on the side as well.
A popular savory pastry from Greek, it is also called Spinach Pie. Layered in Phyllo dough, imported paper-thin sheets of unleavened flour dough, this Spanakopites was stuffed with minced chicken, feta cheese, and spinach as the appetizing filling. Baked till a nice golden brown, it is perfect for my Mediterranean themed of afternoon tea session.
Salmon Ratatouille (RM28)
A classic traditional stewed vegetable dish from French, chef paired the Ratatouille with a big chunk of salmon fillet and boiled potato. Cooked with tomato, zucchini, and cauliflower as the main ingredients in olive oil, the flavor is on the light side, suitable for diners who prefer a healthier choice.
Chicken ala Provencale (RM23)
Pan fried chicken breast with Provencale sauce, a fragrant tomato sauce originated from French that typically made with sautéed onions, garlic, capers, olives and herbs.
Turkish Lamb (RM30)
Tasted exquisite, this tender Turkish Lamb was well-marinated with lemon juice and rosemary herb for almost 24 hours. Black peppercorn was added too during the cooking process to give it a nice aromatic flavor. Served together with cinnamon raisin rice, this was one of my favorite Mediterranean dishes that chef prepared.
Basil Scented Chicken Paprika (RM35)
Chicken dish that infused with aromatic herbs, it was served together with a spinach risotto entree.
