Savour the Exquisite Taste of Nook’s MIGF 2013 Festive Menu by Chef Steven Seow

Nook’s MIGF festive menu for this year 2013 saw the emphasis in promoting the culinary ideas from East Malaysia and jazzing up the menu with Aloft style.

“There isn’t much effort done to promote delicacies from East Malaysia and I felt that it is a waste as there are just so much hidden treasures in Sabah and Sarawak!” said Chef Steven.

Smoked Scallop Umai Sushi, Duck Confit with Pomegranate and Yoghurt Sphere
paired with wine Villa Maria Chardonnay, New Zealand

Sarawak Laksa with Organic Soba Noodle, Lobster and Abalone
paired with beef Leffe Blonde

Wagyu Beef Rendang, Farm Vegetables Achar Jelatah, Tumeric Coconut Rice
paired with wine Madfish, Shiraz, Australia

Eight Treasures Ais Kacang

RM180++ per set (without wine and beer pairing)
RM160++ per set (without wine and beer pairing as well as the Sarawak Laksa)

The MIGF set menu is available through lunch and dinner from now till end of October.

Placed on top the umai sushi, the succulent scallops were seasoned first then smoked with lemongrass and wood. Patrons can also playfully squeeze the soy sauce from the tube to add a hint of sweetness to the umai sushi.

Followed by the savory duck confit that topped with crispy duck skin, it matched well with the unique taste of pomegranate sauce, which served on the side. Lastly, finished it off with the yoghurt sphere in raspberry sauce that will burst out at your tounge and patrons get to taste the mix of flavors.

Instead of prawn and fish cake, we had the aromatic Sarawak Laksa in a more fine dining way, with organic soba noodles, grilled lobster and abalone! Paired with beer Leffe Blonde, it brings out the best of both beer and laksa!

Using Wagyu beef as the meat choice in this mild sweet rendang, you can expect the enjoyable tenderness that literally melt-in-your-mouth! Served together with the fragrance tumeric coconut rice and achar jelatah, this dish to me is already a satisfied filling meal.

A bold twist to the classic. We ended the MIGF festive menu with this local favorite Eight Treasures Ais Kacang, which served together with an array of colourful fun filled syrup in syringes, (yellow color) orange and lemongrass flavor, (red color) rose and strawberry flavor, (green color) pandan and apple flavor, (brown color) salted palm sugar flavor, and (white color) cornflakes creamer flavor. So, have fun with the experiments and explore your own favorite taste.

The ais kacang is not the typical ice kacang but has some fruity elements in it. The eight treasures consists of jackfruit, sweet potato, sago, cendol, black jelly, blackberries, strawberries and blue berries.

The set menu comes with coffee or tea as well.
