Frontera Sol of Mexico Returns with a Bang in Rayos de Colores!

Frontera Sol of Mexico, a Tex-Mex restaurant in Petaling Jaya re-launched its image and menu by hosting a private media event, with VIP present. This project was organised by final-year Mass Communication students from IACT College.

The students spent three months planning and organising the event. A list of sponsors and media from the lifestyle, food and fashion were selected to attend. Event Planning & Management lecturer, Suhana Abdul Kadir, guided the students through their inexperience, in order to muster up excitement among them.

A network of industry contacts, models, designers and sponsors, as well as many logistical aspects of the event were done by the students. Lum Sin Yi, a Malaysian fashion and shoe designer said, “IACT students displayed professionalism despite the lack of on-field experience, and this exposure would enable them to learn from hands-on project.”

The arrival of the media was immediately followed by refreshments and the guests were served Frontera’s signature tacos. A student emcee from IACT College addressed the guests on, giving brief details about Frontera’s new goals.

Restaurant manager, Ramesh Vadiveloo mentioned, “Our business in the past focused on working adults looking for affordable and quick set lunch. We now would like to cater more to families, providing a smoke-free, family-friendly environment.”

Ramesh also touched on the new ‘Rayos de Colores’ theme, stating “Rayos de Colores is Spanish for Rays of Colours, a theme that transcends through the entire restaurant, from the service, food and ambience in the restaurant.”

The student project wanted to captivate the audiences by not only providing them with food but a fashion show with many local fashion designers who’ve recently graduated from design schools. The fashion runway which ensued shortly was both unusual yet apt, and kept the photographers occupied as they captured various shot of the stunning models and dresses.
