Pacific Coffee Company organized a coffee and food pairing session with a group of bloggers and the media recently with objective wanting to give their customers the ultimate experience while enjoying their perfect cup of coffee.
Hosted by Pacific Coffee Company Ambassador, Mike Yung, attendees of the event were treated to a menu of desserts paired together with three blends of coffee by Pacific Coffee Company.
Mike Yung, who originally hailed from Canada, received his early education from University of British Columbia, made a pit stop to Kuala Lumpur as part of his Asian tour upon signing up with Pacific Coffee Company as its Coffee Ambassador in late 2013. Named Campion at the 2007 Canadian National Barista Championships in Toronto, Canada, one can be sure to feel Yung’s passion for this luscious black beverage.
“What we would like is that our customers take time to enjoy every cup of coffee they drink. Every sip should be enjoyed slowly, to explore the richness and aroma the different kinds of coffee bring, and how these can change depending on what you pair it with. It should be like a new experience very time you pair it with something different. This is the true meaning of the coffee experience,” says Alexander Leaw, Operations Manager of Pacific Coffee Company.
In line with Pacific Coffee Company’s passion for quality coffee, three main coffee beans were selected for this pairing session, namely the Sumatra, Costa Rica, and Ethiopian Mocha. These are Pacific Coffee Company’s signature coffee beans which are available at all Pacific Coffee Company outlets and all are very well suited for the local palate. Each blend of coffee paired during the event has its own notes that complement each dessert.
Sumatra, a rich and smooth coffee with full-flavored.
From the Indonesian island, this Sumatran blend has a fascinating complex herbal and earthy aroma which is derived from the highlands of the tropical forests and the surrounding area of Lake Toba.
Try having your Sumatran coffee with Tiramisu, a popular coffee-flavored Italian dessert, which usually served in a small cup for a refined presentation. The smooth texture and flavors of Tiramisu which is infused with Sumatran coffee beans, make it the right complement for each other.
Costa Rica, not too strong in flavor with a clean taste and tangy aroma.
Costa Rica is famous for its beautiful tropical landscape and fine coffee. Full bodied with a pungent characteristic, coupled with maple syrup and herbal notes, this coffee exhibits the typical sweet taste and bold richness.
Paired with Costa Rican coffee, the American Baked Cheesecake that is rich with dense, smooth and creamy texture can bring out a refreshing taste from the coffee bean and rich flavors of the cake. The American Baked Cheesecake relies on sour cream to enrich the cheese flavours.
Ethiopian Mocha, with complex flavor in a delicate fruit-like acidity.
The Ethiopian Mocha is rich in taste with notes of leather, wood, earth, and nuances of berry fruit. It is a dry-processed coffee, unlike any other in the Pacific Coffee Company’s line. The processing of the beans tends to produce a heavy-bodied coffee with exceedingly low acidity.
Paired with Blueberry Cheese Cake, the delicious fresh blueberries on a wonderful rich indulgent cheese cake forms a unique fruity fragrance together with the Ethiopian Mocha coffee.
With the basics of coffee pairing introduced during this event, Pacific Coffee Company hopes that it will help to enhance very coffee lover’s experience. Pacific Coffee Company also aims to continue to provide quality coffee and a complete coffee experience to its customers.
