Everytime when I passed by the Be Lohas restaurant, I was attracted by their poster promoting the healthy organic vegetarian cuisine. This usually won’t be my choice of meal, but I decided to give it a try together with my mom.
“BMS Organics started to promote healthy organic vegetarian food products since 1997 via retail. Located at Bandar Puteri Puchong, the first Be Lohas Healthy Vegetarian Cuisine organic cafe was founded in 2007 when they decided to establish a cafe where customers could easily enjoy genuine healthy vegetarian food.
LOHAS stands for ‘Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability’ which means living a lifestyle that is healthy and environmentally friendly. The cafe’s name has been cleverly translated to ‘Le Huo’ in Chinese which means living happily.”
Sometimes, it was the little things that count. I appreciated Be Lohas’s caring complimentary to serve Organic Spirulina Pills that contain over 108 nutrients and Lemon Grass Ginger Tea to warm up your stomach before meal for better digestion.
We had the fresh veggie and fruit juices, both priced at RM8.90, the Eyesight Booster contained apple, carrot and grapes, while the Skin Enhancer rich in Vitamin C from orange and pear.
Soy Cheese Stick (RM9.90)
Organic Soya Milk Curry Laksa Noodle (RM18.90)
We decided to order this simply because it was under the chef recommended for 7 highlighted benefits!
1. Chef uses organic soya milk instead of coconut milk so that diners no need to worry much about high cholesterol or upset stomach.
2. The use of unbleached flour and brown rice vermicelli that are zero burden to the body.
3. Do you know that grape seed oil has high smoke point of 248 degrees without producing free radicals?
4. Replace bean sprout with alfalfa sprout to helps prevent arteriosclerosis, and organic pea shoots for better texture besides providing essential amino acids for the body.
5. I love the star of this curry noodle dish, the organic dou bao which is rich in protein.
6. The use of fragrant organic virgin coconut oil to promote metabolism and enhance nutrient absorption.
7. Homemade freshly grinded galangal, turmeric, dried chilies and other spices as main ingredients for a better taste curry soup.
Rainbow Claypot Rice (RM23.90)
Be Lohas prepares their food with the unique purple clay cookware that releases infrared when heated to breaks down the fats in food thus helping to lower cholesterol absorption by your body. Also, minerals released can raise the alkaline content of food in cooking, while iron helps in blood building.
Besides using 70% organic vegetables and natural ingredients, Be Lohas also uses grape seed oil, olive oil, rice bran oil, sea-salt and rock-salt to prepare the healthy foods.
Black Sesame Paste (RM8.90)
“What is left in refined sugar consists of pure and refined carbohydrates. Our body cannot utilize this refined starch and carbohydrate unless the depleted proteins, vitamins and minerals are present.”
Be Lohas offers organic unrefined sugar for customers to adjust the sweetness of their desserts, which it contains trace minerals and nutrients from natural cane juice, and does not have any of the artificial chemicals that sugar substitutes contain. To my surprise also, 1 kg of organic unrefined sugar costs RM12, that’s 4 times more expensive than the refined sugar.
It has never been easy to be in the organic vegetarian food and beverage business. Spreading the message of healthy living required determination and persistence. Be Lohas will continue to uphold the initial commitment to promote genuine healthy vegetarian cuisine and promise their customers only the best, deliciously healthy organic vegetarian dishes.
And, I will begin to eat healthy organic vegetarian food more often now after knowing its values and benefits to my body as well as the environment.
4 low’s (low salt, low sugar, low oil, low calorie) and 3 high’s (high energy, high fiber, high nutrients), rest assure you can trust Be Lohas for your healthy vegetarian cuisine.
