Thanks to the lovely invitation, I recently get to sample a selection of scrumptious and delectables new menu dishes prepared by Chef Sazali, the new Executive Chef at The Gastro Project who has vast experience in the F&B industry with notable experience at Kuala Lumpur’s premier fine-dining restaurant Cilantro.
Established in January 2013, The Gastro Project is a pork-free neighbourhood restaurant in the Section 17 enclave serving Western food with an Asian twist.
Caprese Salad with Arugula (RM20)
We kicked off the dinner with Caprese Salad, a refreshing dish with fresh sliced Mozzarella, basil, tomato and arugula.
Leek and Potato Soup (RM15)
Not your usual smooth and creamy soup, this hearty soup was cooked with just the right amount of bites which I enjoyed very much.
The Moroccan (RM32)
Now, this was an interesting dish for me to try. The gamy taste of lamb had been handled pretty well by Chef Sazali with spices and herbs, paired together with ingredients like pine nuts, pomegranate and mint yogurt sauce, it was really a wholesome pizza with lots of flavors, textures and colors.
Fettuccine Carbonara (RM28)
Dishes to look out for at The Gastro Project including this Fettuccine Carbonara with classic cream based sauce. Simple and comfort food that was executed wonderfully by the experienced Chef Sazali.
Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Bacon (RM24)
Who does not love bacon? Each creation came with its own distinctive taste, and this delightful pasta dish continue to wow us in delivering the satisfying and aromatic flavours with every bite.
Pan Seared Barramundi (RM35)
Have a palate for seafood? Served with Hong Kong kailan and a side of homemade mash potatoes, Chef pan seared the barramundi till nice perfection in both texture and flavor.
To end the meal on a sweet note with the uplifting passion fruit flavoured creme brulee.
An irresistable indulgence with crunchy Churros that served together with chocolate and caramel dipping sauce. Not too overwhelming sweet, Churros was one of my sinfully favorites dessert and I had few of it!
Try Chef Sazali’s attractively presented signature Lemongrass Panna Cotta that served together with fruit coulis, tasted as delicious as it sounds.
The Gastro Project also has an extensive selection of beers, wine and a list of both signature cocktails and mocktails. For a gourmet experience at a surprisingly reasonable price, The Gastro Project is the great place to dine without burning a hole in your pocket.
