*****
Thanks to the invitation, I recently went to MATRADE Exhibition and Convention Centre to attend the Café Malaysia 2016‘s opening event, which launched by Guest-of-Honour, Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Dzulkifli Mahmud, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE). 10,000 visitors were expected by the organisers who will be treated to a showcase by 102 exhibitors from 13 countries and a feast for the senses.

Organized by Conference and Exhibitions Management Services (CEMS) and hosted by the Malaysia Specialty Coffee Association (MSCA), Café Malaysia 2016 marks the largest gathering of the tea and coffee industries in Malaysia and in Southeast Asia.

This trade and consumer event in Malaysia is dedicated to the café and teahouse communities and brings together the café and teashop owners and managers, importers and exporters, distributors and suppliers of machinery, equipment, and raw materials.

Café Malaysia also serves as a dynamic B2B platform for key decision makers to source for their café needs and explore new collaborations and opportunities in a country where the number of specialty coffee drinkers has grown over the years. This growth is mirrored by a significant increase in the number of cafés in Malaysia, especially in Kuala Lumpur.

The 3-day exhibition will also be teeming with networking opportunities for the trade and fun-filled activities for the public on everything coffee and tea. Members of the trade will be introduced to the latest developments and technologies at exclusive workshops, classes and demonstrations and learn about the trends and techniques on everything coffee and tea from industry experts.

*****
One of the biggest crowd magnet will be the championships. Café Malaysia 2016 will host three national championships Malaysia Brewer’s Cup (MBrC) 2016, Malaysia Latte Art Championship (MLAC) 2016 and Malaysia Barista Championship (MBC) 2016.
Malaysia’s top baristas will brew their way to represent Malaysia at the World Brewer’s Cup (WBrC) 2016, the World Barista Championship 2016 to be held in Dublin, Ireland, and the World Latte Art Championship 2016 to be held in Shanghai, China. Visitors to the event will be awed by how the masters brew a perfect cup of coffee, distinguish a variety of coffee and decorate their latte.
