Thanks for the recommendation from friends, I recently went to Sumiya Izakaya and sampled some of the delicious signatures wonderfully prepared by their experience Japanese chef.

Served in a choice of either sesame or wasabi dressing, this refreshing Salmon Skin Salad (RM12.80) is a mixture of different tasty ingredients, such as juicy tomato, crunchy cucumber, fresh lettuce, radish, seaweed, my favorite crab stick, crispy salmon skin and mayo sauce.

Spicy Edamame (RM7), a very simple dish with twist of spicy kick! Chef stir fried it together with garlic and chilli padi for the extra fragrant. It goes really well with the beer and sake.

If you want something raw and chewy, give this Tako Wasabi (RM10.80) a try. Chef mixed together the seasoned octopus with wasabi, which is not too overpowering, just nice for my wasabi tolerance level.

It was my first time tried out the Potato Mochi (RM9.80), soft and chewy with hint of natural sweetness from the potato, one piece is definitely not enough.

My favorite Takoyaki (RM10.80) with a lot of mayo sauce and dancing bonito flakes on top, as well as something that I have not seen before, crispy tako cracker.

A stunning menu of Japanese alcohol beverages awaits diners at Sumiya Izakaya, with prices lower than other restaurants around 30% till 50%!

We had the Kubota Ginjyou Genshu (RM120 per bottle). Kubota is a famous sake brewery making “Niigata” style sake that is aromatic with a subtle elegant palate. Genshu means the sake has not been diluted by water and the alcohol content is usually higher. We tried both chill and warm versions to sample the differences of the sake’s texture and flavor.

Features a delicate floral aroma and rich quality taste, diners can sample Suntory The Premium Malt’s (RM19, RM21 for Black Beer) at Sumiya Izakaya, which is made from carefully selected pure ingredients using the original brewing methods.

Committed to deliver the freshest sashimi to Japanese food lovers, Sumiya Izakaya air-flown their ingredients directly from Japan. What we had here were Toro (RM60 for 3 pieces), Kanpachi (RM33 for 5 pieces), Amaebi (RM22.80), Salmon Belly (RM18.80) and Hokkigai (RM15.80). The restaurant does not keep many stocks to ensure the freshness and want to give the best quality to their diners. Therefore, remember to inquire the availability with their staffs before you order the sashimi.

Sumiya Izakaya strikes to deliver exceptional Japanese cuisine that exceeds diner’s expectations with special air-flown order which you can make 3 to 7 days earlier. We were lucky to be able tried this amazing Maru Zuwai Kani Leg (RM25 per piece). Already packed conveniently in individual leg, we just need to twist it lightly and whole piece of meat will pop out easily.
