Thanks for the wonderful invitation, I recently went to Pho Street and sampled some of their delicious Vietnamese Street Cuisine.

Located on the Lower Ground Floor of Paradigm Mall, Pho Street is a 58-seater casual dining restaurant that serves distinctly fresh and vibrant flavors of Vietnamese foods, from a hearty bowl of Pho or a tasty Banh Mi sandwich to street snacks and refreshing drinks.

*****

The street side dining culture is very popular in Vietnam. The locals like to eat by the street side, sitting on low tables and stools while crowd watching.

At Pho Streets, diners can try many iconic street snacks from various regions of Vietnam, including this Chao Tom Hue, or prawn paste grilled on sugarcane skewers that’s named in honor of the Imperial capital.

One of my favorite appetizers is this Fresh Summer Rolls (Goi Cuon), with fresh ingredients like vegetables, herbs, rice vermicelli, prawn, pork belly all wrapped into a delicate sheet of rice paper. Their homemade peanut sauce is amazing too, you just got to try it!

*****

Banh Mi is a Vietnamese sandwich eaten by the locals at anytime of the day. Sandwiched between the toasted crunchy baguette is a delicious combination of cilantro, crunchy pickles and mayonnaise, with choices of roasted pork belly, grilled beef or chicken ham to suit your taste buds.

It is a dish that is influenced by the French when they were in Vietnam. A good Banh Mi has a crusty outer, yet soft n fluffy on the inside. Besides the three meat choices, you can even have all three in the Pho Street combination.

*****

I like the Rice Crackers here. It did not loss the crunchiness even after I took quite a long time to take some shots. Vietnamese people call this dish as Bánh Tráng, which is served with a salad of crunchy green mango, prawns, pork belly and crushed peanuts.

Pho Street also has another version of Sesame Rice Crackers served with minced meat and spice dip.

*****

Made especially for the beef lovers, you definitely cannot miss this Pho Beef Combination that features Beef Balls, Beef Slices, Beef Shank, Beef Tendons and Beef Tripe.

Pho Street serves the southern style (Ho Chi Minh) of Pho, which is thicker and more flavorful than the northern style (Hanoi). Chef cooked the beef broth with 13 ingredients for 4 long hours of slow boiling, followed by 2 hours of simmering to bring out the beef essence and fragrance of the beef oil.

Pho Street’s signature Pho selections consist of six varieties. Each piping bowl of Pho is served in a light yet flavorful broth, garnished with fresh Thai basil, bean sprouts and lime.

*****

Another popular noodle dish at Pho Street is this Bun Thit Nuong, a light and refreshing bowl of dry rice vermicelli. Served with deep fried spring roll (Cha Gio) and crunchy pickles together with a choice of grilled beef, roasted lemongrass chicken or roasted pork chop in a zesty sauce, Pho Street’s version is southern style that features more ingredients than the northern style.

Toss everything together and it is good to be indulged. Chef specially marinated the pork chop with coconut water to make it more tasty and tender in texture.

If rice is your staple, Pho Street also offers a more conventional meal of rice and meat, such as roasted lemongrass chicken, beef stew or roasted pork chop served together with fragrant rice and appetizing pickles.

*****

Look too simple for a dessert? Wait until you have a sip and you will be surprised like me! Served chilled, this Che Dau Xanh has tender mung beans in coconut milk and garnished with crushed peanuts. Not too sweet to my liking, I just enjoyed very much the texture and flavor.

*****

There is also an extensive list of drinks, ranging from the refreshing lemon cooler with peppermint & basil, passion fruit & basil mojito and milk tea with grass jelly to Vietnamese herbal and lotus tea, and not forgetting the thick coffee brew as only the Vietnamese can make it.

I never tried Vietnamese food before coz it’s so hard to find a Halal one. And it’s hard to benchmark it as well. Too bad can’t try this one either.

I rarely eat Vietnamese because the dishes promoted locally are usually beef based. I am delighted to note that Pho Street has a larger menu.
