Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to Li Yen, the award-winning Cantonese restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur, for their Lunar New Year feasts which specially designed by Executive Chinese Chef Leung Kwai Hong to welcome the Year of the Rooster.

Chef Leung once again puts on a fine display of culinary artistry in his creation of the exclusive set menus, alongside a seasonal selection of delicate Dim Sum ideal for gatherings with family and loved ones.

Prosperity Yee Sang with an option to include Salmon, Tuna or Abalone adds a ritzy twist to the traditional festive toss.

An exquisite selection of menus featuring traditional delicacies and signature dishes are available for lunch and dinner, showcasing the best of Cantonese fine dining.

Available from 27 till 30 January 2017, the lunch set menus are priced from RM138 nett per person. The dinner set menus are priced from RM1,888 nett per table of 10 persons.

* Simmered chicken in bouillon
* Braised pork knuckle with brown sauce
* Lotus leaf wrapped fried rice with fresh prawn
* Double boiled almond tea with glutinous rice balls

* Prosperity abalone yee sang
* Double boiled chicken soup with cordyceps flower, dried scallop and conch
* Steamed bamboo fish in traditional style
* Braised abalone with fish maw and sea moss
* Roasted Iberico Pork
* Spinach in fish broth with wolfberries
* Steamed clay pot rice with Chinese waxed meat
* Walnut cream with crystal dumplings
* Pan fried nian gao

Included in the delectable culinary offerings this year is Roasted Iberico Pork, which is sourced from a breed directly descended from wild boars and reared to produce only the finest quality meat.     These dishes really set the standard high for Chinese chefs. By Ipoh standards, they are quite pricey but I guess for Kuala Lumpur, this is what people has come to expect.
