Capital of Hulu Langat, Selangor, Kajang has grown rapidly in the past few years with estimated population growth of 9% per annum. Supported by a network of tolled expressways and federal highways, a few townships and many high-end projects have been developed in Kajang, attracting both the end-consumers and investors.
One of the developments in Kajang that caught my attention recently is the De Centrum City, a “new urbanism” township by listed developer Prostasco Berhad which incorporates green ideas, sustainability, easy accessibility, a communal living, and engaging healthy lifestyles.
Located in the south of Kuala Lumpur, De Centrum City covers a 100-acres freehold land which will be completed in stages over a 15-year period. It begins its growth centrally where the De Centrum City Sales Gallery currently sits alongside the Infrastructure University of Kuala Lumpur (IUKL).
“I believe there is still good potential for developments in Kuala Lumpur South. You can see in recent years that activity is moving towards this side. This is where the future is,” said Dato’ Sri Ir Chong Ket Pen, Group Managing Director of Protasco Berhad, the company behind his ambitious plan of De Centrum City.
With an estimated growth development value (GDV) of RM10 billion, De Centrum City integrates multi-dimensional components such as De Centrum Mall (neighbourhood shopping centre comprises of a supermarket, F&B outlets, convenience store, appliances & general household stores, IT and entertainment to serve the community within De Centrum City and its surrounding areas), De Centrum Tower (SOHO), De Centrum UniPark (condominium), Rimbawan Residences @ De Centrum (high-end residential), Hotel, Convention & Sport Centre, Academic Block, Signature Office Towers as well as Lifestyle Suites, a masterplan by award winning architect, Veritas Design Group.
I went to their sales gallery last week to check out the De Centrum UniPark. It comes with 1,297 sq.ft and 1,302 sq.ft with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. I like the generous and flexible layout which buyers can personalise the space to suit their modern city lifestyle.
Highly accessible with direct connectivity to a network of major highways, it is so convenient to reach De Centrum City via the North-South Expressway (Plus Highway), South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE), SILK Highway, and the upcoming MRT as well with stations at Serdang, Cyberjaya and Putrajaya.
With the strong foundation of Protasco Berhad, I am impressed with the overall “new urbanism” masterplan of De Centrum City, where Dato’ Sri Ir Chong Ket Pen confidently wanted to build it as the “Mont Kiara of KL South”. True to its name, De Centrum (which means “the centre” in French) is poised to be the next potential growth centre in Kajang!
