Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to BMS Organics‘ launching event of their range of healthy vegetarian mooncakes in conjunction with the coming Mid-autumn Festival.
Free from artificial flavouring, colouring and preservatives, BMS Organics offers an array of organic mooncakes that place great emphasis on the authenticity, freshness and flavors that would please even the most health-conscious eaters.
“Taste and quality, that’s what we are going for. With your well-being in mind, we ensure that only the finest and freshest materials are used for our mooncakes. Baked with love by a veteran professional baker from Taiwan, our mooncakes are made of organic unbleached flour and all-natural ingredients specially sourced from Taiwan. These nutrition-packed round goodies are set to satisfy your cravings yet bring you tremendous health benefits,” said Terry Lee, CEO of BMS Organics during the launching ceremony at their MyTown Cheras outlet last week.
Cantonese Style Mooncake Selection
Japanese Tangerine (Vegan)
Red Bean Paste (Red Bean, Red Kidney Bean, Isomalt, Soya Bean Oil), Tangerine, Unbleached Plain Flour, and Peanut Oil
Brand new offering from BMS Organics, this Japanese Tangerine mooncake uses one whole Yilan tangerine to replace the traditional egg yolk, stimulate your taste buds with an extra refreshing zing. The honey-soaked lime blends very well with their very own Japanese-styled red bean paste too, something unique to me and I truly enjoyed.
Pure Lotus with Yolk (Ovo Vegetarian)
Lotus Paste (White Bean, Lotus Seed, Isomalt, Soya Bean Oil), Unbleached Plain Flour, Salted Egg Yolk and Peanut Oil
A healthy version of traditional mooncake with savoury egg yolk and BMS Organics’ own unique paste made from premium lotus seeds. It contains less fat and sugar, but it certainly does not compromise the silky-smooth texture that we’ve all come to love.
Mixed Nuts Delight (Vegan)
Mixed Nuts (White Bean, Isomalt, Soya Bean Oil, White Sesame, Almond, Pumpkin Seed, Walnut, Dried Tangerine, Rock Salt), Unbleached Plain Flour and Peanut Oil
A healthier version of traditional mooncake that I only know how to appreciate recently. The nutritional values are multiplied when traditionally nuts are replaced with super foods such as white sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, tangerine, walnuts and almonds, which promote digestive, respiratory health and overall well-being.
Matcha Red Bean (Vegan)
Matcha Paste (White Bean, Isomalt, Soya Bean Oil, Matcha Powder), Red Bean Paste (Red Bean, Red Kidney Bean, Isomalt, Soya Bean Oil), Unbleached Plain Flour and Peanut Oil
Using handpicked red beans from Wandan, Taiwan, chef enveloped it in a fragrant paste made of natural matcha powder before bakes the mooncake at low temperature, making this an unforgettable treat especially to the younger customers.
Red Bean Walnut (Vegan)
Red Bean Paste (Red Bean, Red Kidney Bean, Isomalt, Soya Bean Oil), Unbleached Plain Flour, Walnut, Peanut Oil, Beetroot and Natural Red Yeast Rice
Using zero artificial flavouring and colouring in making each vegan mooncake, chef makes this baked crust with natural red yeast rice, and every bite comes with chunky red bean bits and crunchy walnuts that is simply delectable.
Purple Chinese Yam (Vegan)
Purple Chinese Yam Paste (Purple Chinese Yam, White Bean, Isomalt, Soya Bean Oil), Unbleached Plain Flour, Peanut Oil and Taro
Feel the taste of subtle sweetness, silky texture and the unique aroma of the high in nutrients purple Chinese yam in your mouth, a taste that will leave you wanting for more.
SuZhou Style Mooncake Selection
Red Bean with Tangerine Pastry (Ovo-Lacto-Vegetarian)
Another refreshing new treat from BMS Organics, this mooncake combines Wagashi-standard red bean paste and flavourful tangerine from Yilan, Taiwan. I really like its sour-sweet taste that will linger in your mouth long after the last bite.
Taro Pastry (Lacto-Vegetarian)
Sink your teeth into this fibre-rich pastry made with the finest yam sourced from Dajia, Taiwan. The yummy yam bits, coupled with chef’s hand-crafted spiral crust, make this a pleasure for both the eyes and the taste buds.
As I switch to a more health conscious lifestyle lately, I would definitely purchase few BMS Organics’ mooncakes this year as gift for my family and friends, besides indulging myself to these less guilty, less oily, and less sugar-heavy mooncakes in the celebration of the up-coming Mid-autumn Festival.
