Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to One Space @ The Square One City for the My Fun Cooking 2017 competition event, which co-organised by Lee Kum Kee and Desa Home to encourage young children in Malaysia to explore their inner cooking talents and enjoy joyous cooking moments with their family members.
A total of four rounds of My Fun Cooking 2017 would take place at One Space with four family teams take part every week in this competition to showcase their cooking talents. Twelve teams would compete for getting into the Final Round. Each winning team from the first three rounds would proceed to compete with celebrity Mr. Peter Davis. Every team requires two family members to take part, a child aged between 10 to 18 and their parent or guardian.
Round 1 : 15 October 2017
Round 2 : 22 October 2017
Round 3 : 29 October 2017
Final Round : 12 November 2017
Participants went to SK Market, one of the event sponsors, to buy ingredients within a fixed budget.
They need to prepare their scrumptious dishes within an hour based on a designated theme using Lee Kum Kee sauces. Renowned for the invention of oyster sauce and a diverse range of top quality Chinese sauces and condiments, Lee Kum Kee is committed to promoting Chinese cuisines worldwide and nurturing future culinary talents.
Electrolux and Desa Home Theatre Sdn Bhd sponsored all the electrical appliances used during the competition. Established in 1995, Desa Home is a home entertainment and appliances retailer offering a full range of products for customers’ household needs.
Tasting time! A panel of judges, Chef Chan Ki Hong from Lee Kum Kee, Mr Teoh Eng Poh from One Space, Mr Edward Phang from SK Market, and Mr Fong Chee Hoon from Electrolux, slowly sampled the dishes one by one and asked participants some questions on their cooking method before giving the points.
I enjoyed myself at the My Fun Cooking 2017 watching the teams prepared their dishes. This competition serves as a right platform for the kids to enjoy fun cooking experience with their families using varieties of Lee Kum Kee sauces.
