Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to INDULGE Lounge of TGV Cinemas, 1Utama for the launch of Italian Film Festival 2017.
The Embassy of Italy Kuala Lumpur, The Italian Trade Agency Malaysia, Italy Malaysia Business Association (IMBA) and TGV Cinemas have joined hands in bringing the art, film and culture of Italy to Malaysia with the Italian Film Festival 2017.
The Italian Film Festival 2017 is organized as part of the Italian Festival 2017/18, where a series of activities is held throughout the year to foster ties between Italy and Malaysia. This initiative aims to widen the knowledge and appreciation of the Italian cinema and culture and to attract the public to immerse into the vitality of Italian contemporary movie scene.
Supported and sponsored by TGV Cinemas, CONSOLI, LAZZARONI AMARETTO, Wine Express, Toselli, and DCG Malaysia, the launch of Italian Film Festival 2017 was kicked off with the screening of ‘La Mafia Uccide Solo D’estate‘ (The Mafia Kills Only In Summer), directed by Pierfrancesco Diliberto ‘Pif’, the main actor himself. This film was awarded the best comedy film at the 27th European Film Awards.
1. La Mafia Uccide Solo D’estate
Inspired by real events, La Mafia Uccide Solo D’estate is a black comedy about 20 years history of Sicily from 1970s to 1990s, mocking Mafia Bosses and restoring the generosity of the heroes of Antimafia. The story focuses on Arturo, a young boy who grows up in Palermo and tries to conquer his beloved Flora.
2. Pazze Di Me
To celebrate the Italian Film Festival 2017, public will be able to enjoy 4 different Italian movies of different genres for FREE at selected TGV Cinemas: KLCC, Sunway Velocity Mall, 1Utama, from 6 till 12 November 2017.
