Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to Hachi Bakery Cafe that just recently opened for business at Plaza Damas, Sri Hartamas (located between Starbucks Coffee and Subway). Offering varieties of fresh delicious Japanese bread and buns, Hachi Bakery Cafe is a neighborhood Japanese bakery with a modern and Japanese-style interior.

Ms Chinami Date is the pastry chef here. She has worked in a famous bakery chain in Japan for 8 years before settling in to work in another bakery in Singapore. She hopes her Hachi Bakery Cafe can supports those hard-working mothers out there one day soon.

Using a special technique to make it soft with mochi-like chewy texture, the Signature Bread Loaf (RM7.40 per packet) at Hachi Bakery Cafe will still retains its softness even after you store it in the freezer and re-toast again later.

Begin its operation as early as 8 in the morning, you can stop by Hachi Bakery Cafe for a wholesome breakfast to kick start your beautiful day. Besides the French Toast (RM14.90) that I tried, they also serve Breakfast Toast with Butter and Jam, Petit Bread Set, French Bugette, Cheese Toast, Muffin Sandwich (omelette), and Egg Benedict with Cream Cheese Muffin. All dishes come with salad and yogurt to complete your healthier meal.

A Croque Monsieur (RM18) is a baked or fried boiled ham and cheese sandwich. At Hachi Bakery Cafe, Chef Chinami Date topped the crunchy toast with a mixture of 3 different cheeses to create that addictive savoury flavour. Sandwiched with chicken ham in white sauce, the portion is just nice to satisfy my appetite.

Hachi Bakery Cafe’s dine-in menu is simple and straightforward at the moment. Serving together with refreshing salad, fruits and yogurt, you will be spoilt for other choice of toast-based dishes like Croque Madame, Pizza Toast, Keema Curry with Cheese, Banh Mi, Pita Sandwich, Focaccia Sandwich, Chicken Cutlet Sandwich, and Club Sandwich.

There is something delicious for everyone on the shelf at Hachi Bakery Cafe. The wide selection of Japanese bread and buns include Anpan (sweet roll with red bean paste), Keema Bun (Japanese curry filling), Kouign-Amann (French traditional sweet bread), Sausage Roll, Tuna Bun, Cheese Stick, Earl Grey Apple Bun, and many more. Chef Chinami uses imported Japanese flour to make her bread and buns in order to achieve the good quality that she desires despite the high pricing.

One of the best sellers here, the Salty Butter Bread (RM3.20) is a soft bread rolled with unsalted butter inside and topped with rock salt for the savoury taste. Simple and nice, it is best eaten warm, and perhaps with a cup of coffee or tea. I also noticed almost every Japanese customer will grab this Salty Butter Bread onto their tray.

Stick Bread (RM3.60) with different flavours of filling, such as handmade custard cream, and my personal favourite green tea cream with red bean paste.
