Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to KIMI-YA Japanese Restaurant to sample few signature dishes from their new menu that launched recently. When it comes to food, KIMI-YA uses only the freshest ingredients. Their carefully crafted new menu is the epitome of heart-warming delicacy, blending the simplest of flavours, textures and colours into an intricate work of art that both tantalizes your taste buds and warm your soul.
This Yaki Pirikara Edamame, boiled and baked green soy bean with chili powder is perfect to go with a glass of chilled beer, one of the zensai (starter) dishes at KIMI-YA besides Potato Salad, Chuka Lidako, Yaki Gyoza, and Yaki Nasu.
KIMI-YA’s home dressing sauces are so delicious, with choices of White Sesame Dressing, Japanese Wafu Dressing, and Citrus Yuzu Dressing. It really complemented well my Kaori Bako Kani Salad (crabmeat and assorted vegetables) with refreshing taste, highly recommended if you are looking for a healthier option.
Not sure which sashimi to order? You can choose the KIMI-YA’s Ume Sashimi Moriawase (4 Types), Take Sashimi Moriawase (6 Types), or this Matsu Sashimi Moriawase (7 Types) to sample different types of premium fresh sashimi that are available. This beautiful platter features delicious thick cut sashimi like Salmon, White Tuna, Amberjack, Tuna Belly, Scallop, Octopus, and Pink Shrimp.
Fancy some premium luxurious food like the Foie Gras? Served Japanese style with housemade teriyaki sauce and Shimeji mushrooms, its rich savoury flavour and creamy texture is truly an unforgettable experience for me.
Chef showed us 3 ways to enjoy this unique Zaru Soba, a cold buckwheat noodles dish served with dipping sauce. The first and simplest way is to dip the chewy Zaru Soba in homemade soy sauce then slurp it up. The second and most popular method is by adding a little of wasabi. This gives it a hint of spiciness, alongside the sweet-savoury soy sauce and chewiness of the noodles. The last method is known as “Marriage”, by adding spring onions, wasabi and quail egg into the soy sauce, and mix the Zaru Soba lightly within the sauce and slurp. Don’t over mix it – just a light spin would do.
I can never say no to a bowl of warm delicious Curry Udon. KIMI-YA makes the udon noodle at its own kitchen with raw materials imported directly from Japan, so go and try out yourself the freshness of their udon as well as its al-dente texture which I enjoyed a lot. Other flavours of udon noodle that you can order include Kitsune Udon, Tori Nanban Udon, Nabeyaki Udon, Asari Udon, Inaniwa Udon, and many more.
Being known for its premium quality, you can now enjoy the A5 Grade Kagoshima Wagyu (120 grams) at KIMI-YA too. Lightly seasoned with salt and pepper to brings out its natural enticing flavours, the photo I took basically said it all, your cravings for quality meat definitely can be fulfilled by this! The principal characteristics of Kagoshima Wagyu are its tenderness and full-bodied flavour, together with well-balanced fat marbling throughout the muscle fibres.
One of my favourite Japanese desserts, the Warabi Mochi, a bracken starch dumpling dessert served with brown sugar syrup and soybean powder. I like its chewy, jelly alike texture, very refreshing to indulge after the heavy meal at KIMI-YA.
The air-flown seafood selections from TSUKIJI Fish Market in Chuo Tokyo, offering diners fresh seasonal fishes like Leather Jacket, Scorpion Fish, Gurnard, Ren-Kodai, Isaki and Yanaginomai, which will be send to KIMI-YA twice a week on every Tuesday and Friday. Remember to try out the Sazae as well, a spiky snail-like turbo shellfish harvested at Japanese island’s coaster waters.
Valid from 1 until 31 May 2018, do check out their Facebook page as well for the exciting promotion of Japanese Musk Melon, one of the tastiest fruits that I ever had. It is quite pricey but its juicy sweet taste is really worth it that will surely get you crave for more!
From a comforting ambience to welcoming service crew and quality food, KIMI-YA provides patrons with the quality semi-fine Japanese dining at an affordable price. My dining experience at KIMI-YA was a wholesome and pleasing one, just like the way you feel upon reaching home after a long tiring day. Free valet parking is provided at KIMI-YA.
