The people around Cheras areas rejoices as Lulu Group, one of the largest retail operators in the Middle East and North African region, opened its 2nd hypermarket strategically located at 1 Shamelin Mall in the Cheras district of capital Kuala Lumpur. I always enjoy shopping here because LuLu hypermarket provides a wide range of quality and value-for-money products all under one roof.
YB Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs of Malaysia officially inaugurated the 2nd outlet of LuLu Hypermarket in the presence of Ambassadors of various countries, prominent local businessmen and other dignitaries. After the inauguration, Trade Minister and other dignitaries were led on a guided tour of the hypermarket by Yusuff Ali, Chairman of Lulu Group who briefed them about the various sections, unique features and amenities of the latest hypermarket.
The new sprawling 80,000 square feet hypermarket, which is also Lulu’s 174th globally, has been designed using the latest retail space concepts and most modern technology for ease of shopping and will serve the residents of Cheras and its nearby areas for their daily shopping needs.
The hypermarket has dedicated sections for grocery, dairy products, fish and seafood, fruit and vegetables, meat and poultry, dry goods, fashion garments, electronics, lT, stationery, sports, footwear, luggage among others.
One of the highlights of this newly opened hypermarket that I like is the exclusive store-in-store for all “Free From” food range. It offers extensive imported line of Gluten-free, Organic, Sugar-free, No-additives, No-preservatives, and other specialty food from around the world.
LuLu Hypermarket has also been supported local small and medium enterprises (SME) to grow together by providing them display spaces inside the hypermarket. It is a good platform for local companies to expand their business and export the products to the Gulf countries. Presently, there are more than 100 local companies associated with LuLu Malaysia. ln 2018, LuLu has exported Malaysian products such as fruits, vegetables, footwear, SME products, food, and furniture worth US$10 million to their hypermarkets around the world!
Symbolized quality retailing, LuLu is immensely popular with the discerning shoppers across the Gulf region and becomes the most preferred shopping destinations in Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, India and is making its strong presence in Malaysia and Indonesia.
“As announced during the inauguration of our 1st hypermarket in Malaysia, we are firm on our expansion plans in Malaysia and are committed to launch 4 new hypermarkets in different parts of Malaysia before end of 2020. This includes projects in Setia City Mall, Bangi Gateway, Bachang (Malacca) and Johor Bahru,” said Mr Yusuff.
He further added,”We are also exploring other markets in Malaysia and expect to create more than 5,000 job opportunities to the Malaysian workforce. LuLu Malaysia currently employs more than 300 Malaysians in our two hypermarkets in Malaysia.”
