“Sibeh”, “Uolls”, “Walaowei”… So, how Malaysian are you?? What is your favourite slang words that you speak the most in your daily conversation?? Created by many, but used by all, slang words are a connective tissue that binds all Malaysians in a unique way.

In collaboration with @MySlangBank, an Instagram-based visual dictionary of Malaysian Slang, The LINC KL presents the inaugural #MySlangMYPride Malaysian Slang Exhibition this Merdeka and Malaysia Day from 15 August until 20 September 2020 (10 am – 10 pm), celebrating our multi-cultural diversity with our very own unique language which almost every true Malaysian would use daily.

The exhibition showcases 100 curated slang words which are beautifully designed by @MySlangBank’s collective of designers, art directors and writers with inspirations from childhood memories, local folklore, and Malaysian elements.

I spent quite long time at the #MySlangMYPride exhibition to study our unique Malaysian slang words. The visuals are very attractive, it greatly helps to explain the meaning of each slang word in a creative and fun way.

Shoppers of The LINC KL get to learn some knowledge about our art and cultural as well this Merdeka & Malaysia Day at the Artisan Workshops. Conducted by experienced handcrafter and instructor, Rahim and team, they are able to get hands-on experience to create their very own art piece.

Hand Embroidery Pouch Workshop (RM80/pax)
* 15 Aug (Sat), 3pm – 5pm
* 12 Sept (Sat), 3pm – 5pm

Participants will learn :
* How to use a sewing machine for straight stitch and zigzag stitch.
* Basic hand embroidery such as running stitch, blanket stitch, chain stitch and satin stitch.

Batik Workshop (RM40/kid) & (RM80/adult)
* 16 & 23 Aug (Sun), 3pm – 5pm
* 31 Aug (Mon), 3pm – 5pm
* 6, 13 & 20 Sept (Sun), 3pm – 5pm

Participants will learn :
* For Kids : To learn how to apply colouring on ready wax on cotton textile frame.
* For Adults : To learn how to handle hot wax with canting and apply colouring and salt effect.

Architecture Sketch Art on Canvas Workshop (RM130/pax)
* 22 & 29 Aug (Sat), 2pm – 5pm
* 5 Sept (Sat), 2pm – 5pm

Participants will learn the technique on stroke lining and perspective position of architecture building in sketch art. This 3-hour guided workshop is conducted by certified Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID)’s instructor.

Bamboo Fabric Patchwork Apron Workshop (RM80/pax)
* 30 Aug (Sun), 3pm – 5pm
* 19 Sept (Sat), 3pm – 5pm

Participants will learn :
* How to cut patchwork pattern.
* How to use a sewing machine for straight stitch and zigzag stitch.
* Basic hand stitches such as running stitch and slip stitch.
