Situated at the busy town of SS15 Subang Jaya, Gastro Cafe has been in the business since year 2010, serving varieties of both Asian and western cuisines.

Being a Hainanese himself, Mr Khoo, the owner of Gastro Cafe, tries to promote more of their iconic Hainanese foods that are also available in the a la carte menu.

Coming from Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, few of Mr Khoo’s relatives also in the F&B industry. Hence, Gastro Cafe offers promising authentic Hainanese food recipe that has been passed down since Mr Khoo’s grandfather era.

One of the must-have from Hainanese cuisine is their Chicken Chop. Diners here at Gastro Cafe can choose either the original Hainanese sauce, black pepper sauce or tomato sauce to go with the chicken chop.

My personal preference would be the original Hainanese sauce, which has a hint of natural sweetness from the onions that cooked along. Served together with fried potato wedges, the green peas on top did make the dish more colorful and intriguing one’s palate.

Gastro Hainanese Style Mutton Soup (RM8.80)

A taste of nostalgic! With meticulous preparation, chef need to cook the mutton first in few rounds before boiling it together with other ingredients and herbs in order to get rid of the gaminess taste.

Served warm in a bowl, am very much satisfied with this nutritious tummy warmer that rich in a wholesome herb flavor.

Gastro Canton Style Beef Hor Fun (RM7.80)

Nicely fit to my taste buds with fragrance thick gravy, the hor fun dish came with sliced beef, bean sprouts, ginger, spring onion and garlic.

Nasi Lemak with Sambal Sotong (RM7.80)

A classic local dish, almost every Malaysian love this as a staple food! Served together with my favorite sambal ikan bilis, sambal sotong, peanut, egg and cucumber, I like its fragrant rice that is rich in santan (coconut milk) flavor.
