Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to Nook at Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral for their a month-long ‘Tantalisingly Thai’ dinner buffet promotion that headlined by Special Guest Chef, Burin Pongchang from Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Bangkok.
Happening from 3 to 30 September 2018, the ‘Tantalisingly Thai’ promotion will feature Chef Burin’s authentic Thai cuisine dishes ranging from appetisers to desserts on two different menus which will be offered on a rotational basis for the buffet. A well-seasoned chef with almost 30 years of experience under his chef’s hat, he will be serving up a variety of his specialty dishes with the assistance the dedicated culinary team at Nook.
Chef Burin has over the years sharpened his culinary skills in Western and Asian cuisines at various hotels in Bangkok and has also immersed himself in promotional culinary events outside of Thailand at Sheraton Xiamen and Westin Guangzhou in China as well as Le Meridien in Kota Kinabalu. His experiences immersing in several Asian cultures have left him with a fondness for Asian cuisine. This love for the cuisine is why he continues to invest in the culinary world and he continues to enthusiastically share his expertise at hotels around Asia.
Chef Burin’s menu of appetisers will offer diners Labb Gai (spicy minced chicken salad), Som Tum Pol La Mai (Thai fruit salad), Yum Woonsen Thalay (spicy vermicelli salad with seafood), Tom Yum Goong (spicy and sour prawns), and Tom Kha Gai (chicken and galangal shoot in coconut milk soup).
The dining experience for ‘Tantalisingly Thai’ promotion would not be complete without some Thai curries, so dig in to an array of curries ranging from Kaeng Kiew Wan Gai (chicken in green curry), Goong Makham (deep-fried prawn with tamarind sauce), Pla Sam Rod (deep-fried fish topped with sweet, sour and hot sauce), Kaeng Phed Nua (beef in red curry) and more.
The buffet spread will also include the famous Pad Thai, almost everyone’s favourite wok-fried rice noodle and Pad Kee Mow (stir-fried rice noodle with hot basil) as part of Chef Burin’s noodle offerings.
To sweeten things up at the end of the spread is Chef Burin’s dessert offerings. The dessert specials will include Tab Tim Grob (red ruby water chestnut in coconut milk), Kaeng Buad Fak Thong (pumpkin in stewed coconut milk), Kluay Cheum (banana in syrup), Mun Cheum (sweet potato in syrup), Sakoo Tua Dam (sago ball with black bean and coconut milk) and Kluay Buad Chee (banana in stewed coconut milk).
