Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to Ambrosia Wines and Tapas Bar at Taman Danau Desa KL to have a nice warm wine pairing dinner with my blogger friends.
The place just got a new makeover in September 2018 with helps from professional consultant, amazing new chef, and knowledgeable friendly staff. The interior has a composition of industrial textures and enhanced with glitter of brick and wood surfaces with classic decoration.

We sampled 3 different wines during the dinner – Pioneer Road Cabernet Sauvignon, Sfera Shiraz, and Woodstock Semillon Sauvignon Blanc. Imported from Australia, you can only get these wines exclusively at Ambrosia Wines.
Pioneer Road Cabernet Sauvignon
Selected Cabernet Sauvignon from premium vineyards throughout Langhorne Creek was vinified using a combination of fermentation styles and French oak to build complexity and structure. The wine has lifted aromas of chocolate and dark cherries, with a richly flavoured palate of spicy ripe plum that finishes with smooth tannins. With superb length, it drinks beautifully now and will reward patient cellaring.
Sfera Shiraz
There is great intensity of fruit in ‘Sfera’ that showcases the excellent viticultural practices that we strive for. The intense fruit is matched by concentration of colour with excellent palate and flavour complexity, largely attributable to the quantity of wine-making. ‘Sfera’ Shiraz is a fantastic expression of the uniqueness of Wirrega Vineyards.
The 2013 vintage was characterised by a hot and dry summer which saw a quick ripening of very intensely flavoured fruit. The 2013 Sfera Shiraz is a great example of the vintage with its concentrated colour, great depth of flavour and soft tannin structure.
Woodstock Semillon Sauvignon Blanc
The blend is composed of 25% Sauvignon Blanc and 75% Semillon. Bright very pale straw colour with water like hue. Fresh, grassy, unripe gooseberry and tropical fruit nose, showing good varietal character, however, there is little power or strength. Light gooseberry and tropical fruit aftertaste.
Their philosophy is to capture the essence of McLaren Vale, ensuring absolute quality at every stage from the vineyards to the bottle before you. The Semillon clone of vines plated at Woodstock, produces grapes with tropical characters which they capture by harvesting just when flavours peak. Sauvignon Blanc adds fruit intensity creating a refreshing style with a lingering crisp finish.

Served with French bread, this classic dish Mussels with White Wine (RM18) is so irresistible with its clear freshness taste. A flavourful hearty goodness that goes very well with my glass of Woodstock Semillon Sauvignon Blanc.
Fried Jalapenos (RM18), something interesting that caught my attention from the tapas menu. Jalapeno is a medium-sized chilli pepper with round, firm and smooth flesh. The savoury wrapped bacon complements well with the jalapeno’s pungent heat flavour. Recommended to those adventurous spicy food lovers.
Another tapas dish that goes well with my Pioneer Road Cabernet Sauvignon, deep fried golden brown Pork Ribs (RM17) with succulent juicy meat. So good, it will have you asking for more!
Smoked Duck Breast Spaghetti (RM17.90), one fine pasta dish that I enjoyed a lot. Many people like smoked duck for its bolder flavour and meaty texture, so do I. Had it together with the Sfera Shiraz, both complemented each taste perfectly, yum!
Those wanting a heartier meal can choose from their variety of pizza dishes. Designed to please your palate, chef creatively uses different combination of food ingredients to prepare his mouth-watering pizza, like the one we tried Greek Lamb Pizza (RM20) that was inspired by Asian flavours.
We really had an enjoyable wine pairing dining experience at Ambrosia Wine and Tapas Bar with cozy setting. These are the 5 dishes that I would recommend for your next dining. Come check out the place if you are around this area.
Priced at RM75 per person, you can also come for their ‘Wine & Tapas’ every Monday from 5 pm until 7 pm to enjoy 2-hour free flow of wines and a set of tapas.
