Renowned for his stint as a judge on the Masterchef Malaysia cooking competition series, celebrity Chef Zubir returns to the familiar kitchen of Latest Recipe to entice diners with his authentic Malay cuisine.

“It is essential that this time of the year my cooking remains traditional as much as possible as diners look forward to familiar taste that reminisce their mother’s home cooked food or kampung. A must-try is the Ayam Masak Gulai Merah Lengkuas and Masak Lemak Cili Padi Daging Salai Bersama Rebung”, said Chef Zubir.

He continues to add “I have fond memories of Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur and it is always a pleasure coming back to a familiar kitchen to cook with the team, especially my successor, Executive Sous Chef Budiman”.


Latest Recipe will feature culinary styles from Kedah, Kelantan, Perak, Penang, Negeri Sembilan and Johor. To start, diners can enjoy the Malay Kerabu station, serving local vegetable salads, Malay spiced spring roll, fruit acar, prawn fritters, kerabu mangga muda and more. A selection of savouries, pickles and sambals will come useful to enhance their favourite dishes.

Celebrated dishes such as roasted baby lamb marinated in Arabic spices; braised lamb in Rendang spices; fish head curry; Penang laksa; gear-box soup; prawn sambal with lemongrass, Javanese rendang with offal and tripe; cat fish cooked in fermented durian and coconut chili gravy; braised chicken with galangal and chili coconut sauce; BBQ ribs and oxtail with garlic and Sarawak pepper, are just some of the few tempting dishes.

The live goreng-goreng corner highlights Malaysian snacks that one would commonly find on the streets. Indulge in fried banana, cempedak, yam, sweet potato and more. Another savory station is the live cucur station which features prawns, mushrooms and chicken, complemented with condiments.

What’s more, a special dish of the day is featured daily on a rotating menu. This includes Balinese baked fish; slow roasted turkey galantine with fruit chutney; wok fried seafood with spicy chili bean sauce; roasted chicken with kuzi gravy stuffed with mix nuts and Portuguese style baked fish amongst others.

In addition to authentic Malay fares, patrons can also choose from a selection of Indian, Japanese, Western and Chinese cuisine.


Desserts are a must-try for those with a penchant for all things sweet. Relish in ice cream teppanyaki; putu mayam; putu piring; durian custard with pancake roll; assorted omachi and cakes; lepat pisang and more. Dir your favorite fruit in a live chocolate fountain for a decadent feast.

The buffet spread is inclusive of free flow date juice, sirap bandung, sugar cane juice and soya bean milk.


This scrumptious buffet dinner is available at the Latest Recipe, from 29 June to 27 July 2014, priced at RM138++ per person (from Monday to Friday), RM128++ per person (on Saturday and Sunday). Children between 4 and 12 years old are entitled a 50% discount. A discount of 50% is applicable for senior citizen on Saturday and Sunday only. SPG members will receive a 20% off total food bill.
