Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur for their #TheBeautyOfRayaxPKL launching event, where shoppers can prepare for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri with enjoyment as you shop, dine and get rewarded, while doing your part for charity at heart.
Receive a radiant welcome with stunning calendula flower sculptures at the Main Entrance. Stroll through luscious blooms at the Spanish Steps. Arrive at the Centre Court where a glittering Raya wonderland beckons, complete with beautiful ketupat decorations symbolising the most beautiful part of Raya – the woven bonds of sharing, weaving pillars of tradition with a sky filled with magnificent twinkling lights.
Launching ‘The Beauty of Raya’ event was Dato’ Philip Ho, CEO of Pavilion REIT; Tuan Syed Yahya Syed Othman, Director of Package Development Division, Tourism Malaysia; Dato’ Abdul Wahab Khalil, Adviser to Da Men Mall; En. Md. Gharif bin Talib, Head, Cards Malaysia, CFS, Maybank.
They were joined by 2 special guests, Malaysians who encapsulate beauty inside and out in their contributions to society and the community. They are Dr. Hartini Zainudin, Children’s Rights Activist and Founder of Yayasan Chow Kit and Dr. Norhayati Abdullah, Vice President of Malaysian Water Association and recipient of the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women In Science Fellowship 2018.
The launching event was also joined by 100 children from Rumah Anak Yatim Shifa, Rumah Permata Hatiku and Cahaya Kasih Bestari, as well as representatives from the community, including Shopping Secretariat Malaysia, Polis Di Raja, Trafik Polis KL, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, Jabatan Bomba Dan Penyelamat Malaysia, Malaysian Tourist Guides Council, Red Crescent Malaysia, the media and friends of Pavilion KL.
Speaking at the launch Dato’ Philip Ho said, “This Hari Raya, we are inspired by the ketupat. Though simple, it is a staple of many Malaysian meals and graces every Hari Raya spread. It is customary for Malaysians to make ketupat together. The ketupat is closely linked to Ramadan. By fasting, Muslims seek forgiveness and forgive the wrongdoing of others. It is a symbol of our unity, an icon of Malay tradition and the spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. This is why the ketupat is a beautiful representation of “The Beauty Of Raya”, which is all about inclusiveness, coming together to share and celebrate Hari Raya together, regardless of race, religion or nationality.”
Happening from now until 13 June, ‘The Beauty of Raya’ is in exclusive partnership with Maybank, Pavilion KL’s official bank partner 2019; Kiehl’s, staging the longest festive partnership that the brand has staged, and Pandora. The Spanish Steps also features a specially-curated exhibition by Fashion Valet showcasing their exclusive ‘Jalan Raya’ collection.

With every ketupat that is woven and collected at Pavilion KL, the mall will donate RM1 to charity, with a target of 30,000 ketupats pledged for charity.
