Thanks for the wonderful invitation, I recently went to Drop Exchange at Solaris Mont Kiara to sample some of their signatures Persian and Northern Indian cuisines.
Being a Wall–Street themed bar and restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, Drop Exchange is a concept that is unique to the Indian culture remake. With a fun-loving atmosphere and relaxed mood, the restaurant is providing the quintessential cultural food of Bombay.
Looks simple, but this Cutlis (RM25), a crispy vegetable cutlet is so nice to savour accompanied by the fresh green coconut chutney. A popular deep fried snack, the filling is made from a choice of boiled and mushy vegetables.
Chicken Tikka (RM30) has always been a must-have for me in an Indian meal. Roasted in tandoor for that appetizing finishing, Drop offers diners an authentic flavour of Punjab chicken coated with hung curd and Indian spices. Love it!
Drop Exchange also offers varieties of appetizers for the vegetarian, such as Achari Paneer Tikka, Kashmiri Tandoori Aloo, Hara Bhara Kebab, and the one we ordered Homemade Cottage Cheese Chargrill (RM27), some really nice cottage cheese marinated with spices, cool and cream before baked in tandoor till nicely fragrant.
Served together with Pav (homemade soft bun) at side, this Salli Ma Margi (RM25) is my top favourite dish at Drop Exchange. It is a Persian style chicken curry topped with crunchy potato salli. The gravy just blew my mind away, definitely a must try here.
Stealing my attention next deliciously is this Papeta Par Edu (RM20), a Parsi style tomato onion masala topped with baked sunny side up egg. You can also opt to add in chicken for a more filling meal.
An appetizing meat dish of Persian or Kashmiri origin, this Rogan Josh (RM40) consists of mutton cooked in aromatic spices and yogurt. The gravy goes so well with my bowl of basmati rice, tastes so heavenly, it’s bound to leave you wanting for more!
Remember to leave some space and try out their selection of Indian desserts like Besan Barfi, Gulab Jamun, Rabadi, and this Kulfi (RM15), a traditional Indian homemade ice cream with very creamy texture.
Gulab Jamun (RM12) is a bit too sweet for my palate. One of India’s popular sweets, these soft berry sized balls were made with milk solids, and soaked in rose flavoured sugar syrup to enjoy.
Named after the fluctuation of the stock market, the “Drop” in drink prices also refers to a “Drop” of whiskey, and was the inspiration for their gastro-lounge; a veritable haven of elegance and design, serving up fresh cocktails concocted by their seasoned bartender. Do check out the app, you can download it from Google Play and App Store.
