Before this, SOULed Out to me is a happening bar and restaurant for scrumptious western food. Thanks to the wonderful invite, I recently get to sample their exciting menu that not just featured western cuisine but infused as well with superb Asian and Northern Indian flavors. A delightful combination of SO Lip Smacking Food, SO Thirst Quenching Drinks, fabulous theme parties and personable service, good food and relaxing fun definitely come with every visit at SOULed OUT under their ‘as good as a hug’ philosophy.
Separated into 2 sections, SOULed Out Bangsar South has the contemporary outlook but still warm and fuzzy on the inside.
*****
Cheese Nachos (RM23)
From the first bite, I was hooked! Chef baked these layers of crispy corn chips and jalapeno peppers together with lots of cheese and topped it with the refreshing Mexican salsa. Generous portion perfect for sharing over some nice drinks.
*****
Deep Fried Calamari (RM25)
A good snack to nibble on, chef deep fried these squid rings in their secret batter recipe. So crispy, so crunchy, ah I am so addictive till can’t stop!
*****
Satay (RM18 for 12 sticks)
Accompanied by condiments and delicious addictive peanut gravy, you can pick your favorite satays with choices of beef, chicken or both. I myself prefer the chicken satay, meaty with less fat and certainly well-seasoned flavorsome.
*****
Mango Prawn Salad (RM23)
Refreshing healthy salad in my favorite zesty light dressing with succulent prawns, plump mangoes, avocado slices and alfalfa placed on top.
*****
Prawn Aglio Olio (RM28)
Simple at its best, chef sautéed the Prawn Aglio Olio together with garlic and chilli, diffusing a nice tempting aromatic smell and taste the moment it was served to our table.
*****
Lamb Shank (RM39)
Served together with homemade garlic mashed potatoes and chunky vegetables, chef slow cooked this remarkably flavorsome lamb shank till tender perfection and without much gaminess taste.
*****
Chicken Gordon ‘BLURR’ (RM26)
You can’t go wrong with their Chicken Cordon BLURR, one of the must-order signatures at SOULed OUT for poultry dish lovers. Served together with refreshing mayo vegetables and golden fries at side, chef wrapped the boneless whole chicken leg around sausage, cheese and chicken ham, warm mellow yellow cheddar cheese will just oozes out delightfully once you plunge your knife into it!
*****
Sake San Pizza (RM34)
Available from 12 noon till closing, Souled Out’s pizzas are the epitome of true comfort food. A bold twist on a classic, this scrumptious Sake San Pizza was laden with salmon slivers, roe, juicy cherry tomatoes, Japanese mayo, lollo rosso and a tad of wasabi for that surprise hit of heat.
*****
Fried Beef Noodles (RM16)
To my surprise, this flat rice noodles was cooked full with wok-hei in the appetizing eggy gravy. Topped with spring onions and ginger, I especially love the generous serving of beef slices, so tender in texture.
*****
Chicken Makanwala (RM24)
Flavorful tikka chicken stewed in mildly spicy onion gravy. The secret? Chef gently bubbled the onion based sauce for 6 hours every day to achieve that rich and creamy texture! All main dishes under Northern Indian Kitchen are served together with raitha, papadum and your choice of pulao rice or naan.
*****
Tiramisu (RM16)
A classic dessert that executed with fantastic, this mille-feuille of coffee crepes and coffee liqueur infused mascarpone cheese was simply an irresistible indulgence.
*****
Lychee Mojito (RM28) & Honeydew Green Tea (RM13), a mix of honeydew, green tea syrup, vanilla and milk.
SOULed OUT is very serious about their Mojitos and the eclectic range of flavours (Classic, Strawberry Basil, Cinnamon Apple Pie, Sangria, Asam Boi, Mango and Granny Smith) available here can depicts this. This Lychee Mojito has a nice fragrant blend of rum, lychee liqueur, lychee, mint leaves and lime, an enjoyable refreshing minty tonic that is perfect for the hot weather.
