An up-coming hip-hop artist and producer supported by Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor (YRMS), Shazzwan is a 28-year-old budding star enrolled under the ‘Talent for the World’ programme, developed his rudiments in the music scene under the guidance of renowned artist and producer Yogeswaran Veerasingam a.k.a. Yogi B.

Illustrating Shazzwan’s life transformation from a juvenile delinquent to a hip-hop artist, the album ‘Titipan Banduan Muda’ featured eight songs including ‘Titipan Banduan Muda’ featuring upcoming singer, MAL; ‘Aku Tak Kisah’; ‘Aku Udah Turun’; ‘Cakap Dalam Gelap’; ‘Dosa Menghantui’; ‘Hidup’; ‘Every Single Morning’; and ‘You’re My’ featuring renowned singer and actress, Tisha Shamsir.

“This album reflects my life story and hopefully teaches others about the lessons learnt from my experiences. My story is induced into this album, creating priceless pieces of music, hoping to inspire the upcoming generation, leading them to a better and brighter future,” said Shazzwan.

“This life transforming process was tough, but the relentless support of the foundation’s Board of Trustees, donors and Yogi B, led me to a life I have always dreamt of,” added Shazzwan.

Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor (YRMS) was launched in 2003 by D.Y.M.M. Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj, the Sultan of Selangor Darul Ehsan. It was established based on the concern by the Sultan on the number of unemployed youths and the associated problems, and the Sultan’s firm belief that there are youths who are not academically-inclined but have hidden talents and skills that can be nurtured. These youths, if given a chance and proper guidance, will be able to achieve their dreams in their field of interest.

YRMS offers help to youths between the ages of 18 to 29 years. YRMS supports the young people by helping them to develop their confidence and motivation, skills and talents, enabling them to be employed. This opportunity is open to all youths in the country, of all races and religion. The target group are youths who are from poor families and not academically-inclined especially those with hidden talents and skills.

“Today, the ‘Talent for the World’ programme heralds the graduation of Shazzwan after undergoing ten years of apprenticeship under the tutelage of Yogi B. This is indeed a dream come true not only for him, but also for the foundation to be able to help someone from a chequered past to turn over a new leaf,” Raja Arshad explained.

The ‘Talent for the World’ programme selects candidates who show great potential in a particular field who will then be trained and guided by a mentor. The first three youths successfully developed under this programme were Wong Eng Leong, an artist; Goh Chiu Kuan, a potter who specialises in ceramic sculptures; and Azhar Asrar, a marble sculptor. These talents were nurtured by world-renowned award-winning artist, Juhari Said.

“In addition, I would also like to express my gratitude to all our donors, big and small, who have contributed towards the success for all YRMS’ projects” added Raja Arshad.
