Thanks for the wonderful invitation, I recently went to Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur City Centre for their “Citarasa” Ramadan Buffet, featuring a delectable spread of over 100 dishes specially prepared by their Executive Chef, Al Fitri Al Bakri and his team of hardworking culinary chefs.
Showcasing the best of authentic local dishes and flavours that will remind you of home, diners can indulge in a delicious variety of Kerabu to kick start your dinner with – Kerabu Isi Ketam, Kerabu Betik, Kerabu Udang, Kerabu Daging Tomato and Kerabu Pegaga, to name a few.
Hotel Istana’s signatures dishes such as Local Style Smoked Catfish in Spicy Coconut Gravy, Butter Prawns, Chicken Kung Pow, Lamb Vindaloo are some of the offerings not to be missed.
Diners can also look forward to the Live Action Stations, where local favourites such as Chay Kuey Teow, Lemang, Sizzling Grill Delights in Portuguese Style, and last but not least, the Carvery Station (Whole Roasted Balinese Marinated Lamb served with a selection of Vegetables with Mustard, Black Pepper, Mushroom and Rosemary Sauce) and the list goes on.
To add to the excitement of this gastronomic journey, the chefs have also added signatures dishes from various states in Malaysia and countries such as Johor Briyani, Pakistani Briyani, Kelantanese Traditional Rice with Fresh Long Beans And Roasted Beef, Vietnamese Spring Roll, among others.
In addition to authentic Malay fare, patrons can also choose from a selection of Indian, Western, Chinese and Fusion cuisines, so there is something for everyone.
As most Malaysians love the King of Fruits, Hotel Istana is also presenting a diversity of Durian Delights in the form of Glutionous Rice With Serawa Durian, Dodol Durian, Durian Strudel, Cendol Durian, ABCD – Air Batu Campur with Durian and Durian Crepes. Durian Delights will only be available on 2nd and 3rd week of Ramadan.
End the great culinary journey with sweet selections that include Malay Kuih such as Keria, Onde-Onde, Cucur Badak, Bingka Ubi, Tepung Talam, Kuih Lapis, Putu Piring and many more.
If you fancy a healthy dessert, seasonal local fruits will be also on the buffet counter.
In addition to a great venue for breaking fast, there will be a designated prayer room, prayer mats, sandals and “Solat Tarawih” will be held daily by an Iman during Ramadan.
