Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to Esquire Kitchen to sample some of their signature home-style Sze Chuan and Shanghainese delights that have been handed down from generation to generation.

Esquire Kitchen has always been a taste of home-style cooking. The roots of their recipes go back to the early 70s, beginning from the humble woks of a group of neighbourhood wives cooking for their families and friends, leading to the kitchens of their very first restaurant in 1974.

This is definitely a dish to die for if you are meat lovers! Their signature Tung Po Meat (RM30.50 regular ; RM56 large), braised pork belly in house recipe sauce, I love how tender soft the meat is and soaked in well all the flavours from the thick gravy. Yum!!!

Among the specialties that you must try at Esquire Kitchen is their piping hot Handmade Flower Bun (RM5.60 for 4 pieces). Great on its own or you can dip it with any gravy, these buns are really fluffy soft in texture, so nice till I had 2 pieces.

Plum Sauce Chicken, Chicken with Salted Egg Yolk, Black Bean Chicken, Orange Chicken, and many more, each flavour of their chicken dish is crafted with love and passion to bring out the best in every ingredient used. I had my favourite Stir Fried Chicken with Paprika Spice Sauce (RM31.50 regular ; RM44.30 large) and cashew nuts for the crunchy bites.

I found one of my favourites under the Esquire Kitchen’s special noodles menu, which is the Suey Choy Pork Strip Noodles with Fuzhou Fish Ball (RM18.60), an appetizing bowl of noodles filled with sweet sourish taste to tease your taste buds. The menu also offers Char Choy for option.

A simple comfort dish perfect for lunch or dinner, this Seafood Shanghai Noodles (RM25.60) is loaded with generous amount of fresh ingredients like prawns, cuttlefish, and clams in tasty clear broth soup.

Do not underestimate this bowl of Dry Sesame Minced Pork Noodles. It may seems plain at first, but remember to toss it well together with fragrant sesame minced pork filling before eating the noodles to have a bowl of hearty goodness meal.

If rice is your staple, Esquire Kitchen offers varieties of rice options to fill up your hunger, namely Braised Pork with Sesame & Peanut Rice, Yang Chow Fried Rice, Curry Chicken Rice, and my favourite Pork Chop Rice (RM18.60) with tender succulent meat and their special house-made sauce.

Do not forget to leave some room for sweet treats as Esquire Kitchen serves a selection of classic Chinese desserts with modern twist like Bubur Cha Cha, Tong Yuen with Tau Foo Fah, and this Kwai Lin Gou with Ice Cream (RM7.80) that caught my attention with its refreshing texture combination. Their daily made fresh Soya Bean and Tau Foo Fah are often deemed the best in town.

If it is a taste of home-style cooking that you hunger for, then Esquire Kitchen is the place you should go and check it out. Besides Sunway Velocity Mall, they also have outlets at One Utama, Tropicana City Mall, Atria Shopping Gallery, Sunway Pyramid, Subang Parade, IOI Mall, Tesco Puchong, Sungei Wang Plaza, Pandan Kapital, Leisure Mall, The Mines Shopping Mall, Endah Parade, and OUG Plaza (www.esquirekitchen.com/outlets).
