Thanks for the wonderful invitation, I recently joined the Cyber Eco Hunt 2019 organised by DRB-Hicom Environmental Service (DHES) and Alam Flora. Participants were required to perform few tasks throughout the event to bring out the sustainability and environmental messages.

With the help of social media influencers, DHES and Alam Flora are motivated to create brand awareness in reducing the amount of waste going to landfill. The companies provide competitive and premium environmental services including integrated waste management, recycling & waste treatment technology, infrastructure cleansing service, asset facilities management, and project management & consultancy.

We went to 4 pit stops during the Cyber Eco Hunt – Alam Flora headquarters in Wisma DRB-Hicom, Shah Alam; The River of Life stretch in Kuala Lumpur; homes in Precinct 9, Putrajaya, and Integrated Recycling Facility in Putrajaya, to have an idea of the services offered by DHES and Alam Flora.

Do you know that used cooking oil can be sold for money?! Many people throw used cooking oil in the sink, which eventually clogs the drainage, causing environmental problems. DHES bought used cooking oil at its buy back centres and 3R on Wheels (3Row) for RM1.10 per kg.

I often heard people asked, why do we need to recycle? Well… recycling is a key factor of modern waste reduction, and is the 3rd component of the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (3R) waste hierarchy. It is a process of converting waste materials into reusable objects.

Let’s do your bit and make a difference to the earth! You can bring over your recyclable items to Alam Flora’s buy back centre and sell them. Your little act can help to protect the environment, reduce energy consumption, pollution & global warming, conserve natural resources, and minimize the amount of waste to landfills.

The closing ceremony was held at Marina Putrajaya, with speech given by Dato Hj Mohd Zain, the CEO of Alam Flora Sdn Bhd, followed by prizes giving and group photo session.

It was quite a tiring event running here and there. Nevertheless, I am glad to be one of the participants and able to spread the awareness about sustainability practices of the environment in Malaysia across my social media platforms to public.
