Thanks for the wonderful invitation, I recently went to Passione Ristorante Italiano to sample some of their signature pork dishes from the revamped new menu. The restaurant captures the quintessential spirit of Italian cooking, where every dish is a labour of love, a work of art and a true expression of passion.

“You are what you eat : A healthy Berkshire, a healthy man”. The restaurant serves Berkshire in all their pork dishes, which is one of the finest pigs available to man. This black pig is fed with a balanced and nutritious diet in the most natural way, which does not contain antibiotics, growth hormones, and muscle drugs.

We kicked start our pork feast dinner with the Concentrated Pork Soup with Rolled Cabbage Dumpling (RM25). Full of nutritious health benefits, I finished this high pressure cooked gelatinous pork bone soup in no time!!

The staple food in Italian cuisine, Passione Ristorante Italiano serves varieties of pasta dishes to satisfy the different taste buds. Chef Stefano’s insistence on making pasta only from scratch using the freshest ingredients ensures a taste that’s distinctively true to his Italian roots. Pasta lovers can look forward to a wide range of signatures that differ from those served in conventional restaurants. We had the recommended Berkshire Pork Tagliatelle (RM35) with minced pork ragu and house sausage in tomato pulp sauce.

Harkening back to the Italian tradition of making pizzas by hand and baking in brick ovens, their wood fired pizzas are fired up at 400°C. This high heat ensures better heat distribution and caramelisation of ingredients, infusing a natural smoky aroma. We tried the Pizza Berkshire and Crema di Tartufo (RM34), featuring Berkshire’s roasted pork, grilled zucchini, truffle paste, smoked cheese and mozzarella spread generously on top.

Berkshire has higher degree of tenderness, more quality and juicier loin with a high percentage of intramuscular fat. We can truly taste that in this Asian influenced stone-grilled Berkshire Pork Chop (RM30) marinated in Sriracha and Miso sauce.

Look at this Berkshire Ribs (RM36) glazed in herb and spiced butter, so gorgeous to indulge and satisfy my cravings for good quality meat. The charred baby back ribs is flavourful and tender in compound mixed herbs butter accompanied by creamy spiced mayonnaise.

Passione Ristorante Italiano sourced their seafood directly from Pangkor, a humble fishing island in Malaysia that is famous for its fish and art. From large swordfish to baby sardines, the restaurant get it fresh from the boat almost every day.

We get to taste the freshness of different seafood in this Bouillabaisse (RM50), a tomato fish stew seafood pot that consists of baby abalone, prawn, threadfin fish, squid and clam.

“To save the sea, we should eat sustainably and be conscious of the seafood we eat”. Local fishes are more affordable in price and fresher with shorter processing time.

We also tried the delicious Charred Bluespotted Fantail Rays (RM32), a grilled stingray dish in brown butter accompanied by sabayon of clam, edamame and baby cherry tomatoes confit.
