Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to The VEE by Teochew Kitchen at Sri Petaling Kuala Lumpur to sample some of their delicious signature dishes. Offering authentic Teochew cuisine for decades to the neighbourhood, the owner just revamped his restaurant this year to uplift the whole dining experience and give more value to his diners.

If eating porridge is boring to you, that’s because you have not tried the Fried Porridge at The VEE yet! The dish looks quite simple, but it gives you so much satisfaction once you savour it with a nice ‘wok hei’ taste.

Diners can order this fried porridge with pork, chicken or seafood. It also serves together with spring onion, fried garlic, and ginger in enhancing its flavour to suit your taste buds. Definitely a must order if you come to The Vee, and the fried porridge actually goes very well with other dishes that we ordered too.

Comes with a beautiful presentation, this Chiu Chow Smooth Sailing (from RM88) features juicy prawn skewers and refreshing pineapple cubes salad. The prawns are deep fried, then glazed it with pineapple sauce to give it a nice sweet and sour taste.

Deep fried till golden crisp, this Signature Garlic Seared Black Pomfret is another must order at The VEE. Served with crispy fried garlic on top and their special soy sauce, this fish dish was presented so beautifully.

To achieve this kind of crispiness, the fish needs to be fried in a wok with a very high heat. Unless you want to take the risk and clean your oily kitchen after the mess, why don’t just head to The VEE and indulge it with family and friends đŸ˜‰

Tender with crispy outer layer, no wonder this Jou Jou Chicken (RM32) is their all time best seller. According to the owner, they even sold it all the way to Scotland!

First, the chef marinated the chicken cubes with apple cider. Then fried it and tossed in apple cider sauce for the finishing. The taste and texture of this Jou Jou Chicken are so addictive, kids will surely like it too.

I like the texture of this Baby Octopus that is cooked with superior broth. First, chef cooks the broth until the boiling temperature, shut down the heat, then drop in the baby octopus, something similar like the sous vide cooking method.

The dish goes well with their special traditional chili sauce, a mixture of taucu bean paste, vinegar, and garlic.

This, Choy Sum with Rice Wine (RM26), a simple everyday dish but chef elevates it by cooking with Chinese yellow wine and sake. The dish has a fragrant sweet taste that I like from both the liquors. So nice… It is now my must-order at The VEE!

I like croissant, and pairing it with kiamchye (salted vegetable) is something really interesting but surprisingly delicious to me. The VEE’s Kiamchye Croissant (RM18) features their special kiamchye, a bit of vinegar, and pork strips. Give it a try, and let me know if you like it or not.

Besides serving modern Teochew cuisine, The VEE also has a Gin Bar offering 66 types of Gin and 1 Arctic Blue Gin.

It was my first experience trying the Arctic Blue Gin, an award-winning gin from Ilomantsi Finland. It has a fascinatingly vivid, extra-intensive aroma of bilberry shrubs.

Designed to elevate your gin-based cocktails to the next level, they use the bilberries that grow wild in the forest near Koli National Park in the North Karelian region of Finland, and combine with other arctic botanicals as well as fresh spring water to create the unique taste of Arctic Blue Gin. Remember to try it when you dine-in at The VEE!
