During our staycation at the Royale Chulan Seremban, we went to visit a few interesting places around the town. Seremban Town is generally over 120 years old, offering lots of heritage for tourists to explore. The town has undergone various phases starting from the arrival of the Minangkabau people to Malaya, the conquest by English Colonizers, the Japanese Occupation, up to development in this era of modernization.
First stop, the 250-meter long Lorong Seni Seremban. The place showcases more than 30 mural paintings to attract tourists to come over to visit the interesting city of Seremban, especially around Jalan Dato’ Bandar Tunggal, Jalan Yam Tuan, and Jalan Tuanku Munawir.
The mural paintings have various themes covering the history and culture of Negeri Sembilan, as well as some famous personalities from the state. Some of these paintings have a 3D concept that allows you to interact with it. We had a wonderful time snapping lots of pictures here.
It is located not too far away from our Royale Chulan Seremban hotel, and we spent approximately 1-hour exploring these creative artworks plus taking many fun photos around the area.
Next, we went to Muzium Negeri Sembilan, which is located along Jalan Sungai Ujong. Inspired by Rumah Gadang Minangkabau, this museum is worth a visit if you want to know more about the general history and culture of Negeri Sembilan.
The main building is called Teratak Perpatih, with Minangkabau styled building that has a unique roof similar to the horns of a buffalo. Among the exhibits on display here include local handicrafts and other historical artifacts.
Visitors can also check out the Istana Ampang Tinggi and Rumah Negeri Sembilan that are situated outside the museum’s main building. We climbed up the staircase and got into the house to experience the uniqueness of this architecture. Apart from the wood carvings, it is built without using a single nail or peg with wood.
