Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to Melawati Mall, an iconic lifestyle hub serving the greater Melawati area, for their Makanlicious Food Hunt. The fun activity covered six restaurants serving different cuisine each, namely Jamaica Blue, Baba Nyonya, Tigerlily Thai Restaurant, Swensen’s, Wayback Burgers, and Be Sixth Comfort Food.
Melawati Mall is located in Taman Melawati, an established and affluent residential district adjacent to the residential areas of Taman Melati, Wangsa Maju, Bukit Antarabangsa, Taman Permata and Kemensah Heights. The precinct is currently underserved and earmarked for urban development creating an exciting opportunity to full the modern demands of shoppers, diners and fun seekers.
Jamaica Blue (L1-07)
Jamaica Blue‘s concept is built on the foundation of fine coffees and fabulous food; delivering a truly unique contemporary cafe experience with exclusive premium products and award winning coffee.
Apart from their award-winning Jamaica Blue Signature Blend and Blue Mountain coffees, they also serve modern western cuisine with richly flavoured fresh foods like salad, sandwiches, pasta, burgers, pastries and desserts.
Baba Nyonya (L3-07)
Inspired by the rich and diverse heritage of Malaysia, Baba Nyonya by Sambal Chilli serves a large selection of local cuisine in a cosy and welcoming environment. Dishes are products from the mix of spices and herbs from the Malay cuisine combined with Chinese wok fire or claypot cooking technique.
We tried some of their signature dishes like Assam Pedas Fish, Sambal Petai Prawn and Ayam Goreng Berempah by Chef Rimong. He is the magician who whips up all the food-coma inducing meals for our memorable dining experience.
Tigerlily Thai Restaurant (L3-24 (A) & 25)
Serving Thai food that is made out of true passion and definitely tackles Thai crowd-lovers, Tigerlily Thai Restaurant has a cheery contemporary dining setting with much of its interior flaunting light wood furniture, pastel coloured walls and bar chairs.
Tigerlily’s theme is brilliant and one of its kind in Kuala Lumpur. Salty, sweet, sour and spicy, the enticing flavours of Thai will keep your taste buds guessing and wanting for more, like this Steam Siakap with Lemongrass in Claypot.
Swensen’s (L3-12 & K4)
Swensen’s, a full-service restaurant chain offering not only ice cream, but fun and friendly casual-dining with a wide selection of hearty foods, desserts, beverages, ice cream cakes and takeaway novelties.
Their signature foods include creamy Mushroom Soup served in a sourdough bread bowl, Spring Chicken, varieties of Baked Rice, Banana Split, and the one we had, extravaganza Earthquake Sundae that combines 8 scoops of ice cream and rich toppings such as hot fudge, butterscotch, strawberry jam, pineapple jam, marshmallow and almond flakes.
Wayback Burgers (L3-16 (B) & K5 (B) )
Founded in 1991 in Newark, DE, Wayback Burgers is a Connecticut based fast casual franchise with a reputation for fresh beef patties, cooked to order burgers and thick, hand-dipped milkshakes.
The hallmark of a good burger is one that is nice and juicy when you bite into it, and you just can’t get that juiciness if only use lean ground beef, which will cook up dry and tough. Burgers are usually cooked at a fairly high temperature to get a nice crust and char on the outside, but to keep the inside moist, you need fat.
Wayback Burgers uses 100% fresh never frozen meat for their beef patties. The beef are freshly grind in house at the meat station. We get to sample their Cheeeesy Burger, with signature inverted grilled butter bun, 4 slices of cheddar cheese and double beef patties, it was so yummy!
Be Sixth Comfort Food (L6-01)
Be Sixth Comfort Food is a warm modern restaurant entwined with the floral wall mural. Their floor to ceiling windows are also a visually stunning additional rustic mode combination. Mohd Saiful Anuar, the founder of Be Sixth Comfort Food, is very passionate in cooking with over 12 years experience in hospitality.
The gourmet dishes served in modern rustic platting was prepared by their dedicated kitchen team to ensure the quality in flavours and tasting. Be Sixth Comfort Food caters for health conscious and vegan customers too with varieties of fresh healthy options.
A bustling and vibrant home for foodies, come to Melawati Mall now where varieties of restaurants and novelty stalls will surely entice you with a feast of flavours and aroma.
