It’s 2017. You can literally buy anything online through the internet access, including high quality fresh meats!

Thanks to a friend’s recommendation, I recently tried out The Blue Cow Butcher, an online butcher shop which is specialising in offering the finest and freshest beef, lamb and pork, complimented with hand-made sausages and burgers as well as arguably the best bacon in Kuala Lumpur.

The website is navigation friendly, making it easy for buyers to quickly find their desirable meats before placing the orders. Sign up with your personal details and mailing address first before proceed to the meat shopping. They have 6 main categories – Beef, Lamb, Pork, Chicken, Sausages and Burgers, as well as Others like BBQ Pack and Bakery Pie.

The friendly delivery guy who arrived at my place promptly according to the time slot I picked earlier. You can also choose to pick up your meats at their store in Plaza Damas if you stay around Desa Sri Hartamas area.

I ordered the Pork Tenderloin, Pork Ribeye and Pork Belly Spare Ribs (boneless) to prepare some porkylicious dishes for the upcoming Chinese New Year feast.

The meats were delivered inside an insulated thermal bag to keep the products in good quality.

My mother’s recipe for Home-cooked Char Siew is very easy to do. She marinates the pork belly first with char siew sauce, oyster sauce and some honey for the sweetness, then put it in the refrigerator for overnight.

The next day, she places the pork belly inside the oven and cooks it for 40 minutes in 180 degree celcius. Turn the meat over once a while and remember to glaze a layer of the marinade all over it for nicer color presentation.

Tada… mouth-watering char siew cooked by my mother, simple right? I really like its texture because the pork belly has a nice balance of fat and lean meat.
