Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to Restoran Mahesha for the launching event of their new product Baby Coconut Briyani.
The owner was generously giving out free Baby Coconut Briyani to anyone who came to the restaurant from 12 noon to 2 pm. The first 69 pax will be served on first come first served basis. Each person is entitled for 1 Baby Coconut Briyani. It was full-house during the launching event. Luckily, I was there early before the restaurant is crowded with busy lunch patrons.
Inspired by a Sri Lankan friend’s recipe, the owner of Restoran Mahesha modified the dish using local herbs and spices. They use local young coconut instead of Thai coconut which chef had tried during first trial session for better flavour and result.
To ensure diners get to taste the flavourful Baby Coconut Briyani warm, the staff will put all the ingredients like steamed Masala briyani rice, fresh coconut flesh, Masala meat, roasted cashew nuts, roasted coconut, raisins, ghee and a hard-boiled egg into the baby coconut and steam it for 10 minutes prior to serving.
Restoran Mahesha offers 6 types of Baby Coconut Briyani for diners to choose from, namely Chicken Briyani (RM18.90), Mutton Briyani (RM19.90), Duck Briyani (RM19.90), Stingray Briyani (RM18.90), Crab Rasam Briyani (RM14.90), and Vegetables Briyani (RM13.90).
I like it a lot. Although the portion was big for me, but I still managed to finish the whole Baby Coconut Briyani. Remember to order their refreshing coconut water to complement your meal and end it with their homemade coconut jelly as dessert.
After soaked up all the coconut water during the steaming process, the briyani rice was moist in aromatic smell and not too spicy for my tolerance.
Restoran Mahesha is an Indian restaurant located same row with Starbucks in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), Kuala Lumpur. You can also come for their varieties of foods and beverages including roti, tosai, nasi goreng, maggi goreng, nasi daun pisang, nasi with lauk, curries, and many more!
Don’t wait and come to Restoran Mahesha now to try out their new Baby Coconut Briyani and other delicious Indian dishes!
