Say No To Shark Fin @ Ginnie Lam’s Cooking Demo Event

Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to Quill City Mall at Kuala Lumpur for Ginnie Lam’s cooking demonstration event in conjunction with the Ocean Hero Conversation Run. Hosted by AFORadio, the event also broadcasted live on the radio show.

A health and wellness ambassador, Ginnie demonstrated how to cook Hong Kong styled beauty vegan soup during the event, with objective to educate the public stop eating shark fin foods. Using quality ingredients like 3 main types of mushrooms, varieties of vegetables, tofu and glass noodles, her nutritious vegan soup can replace the shark fin soup especially during the Chinese New Year, with even more benefits like beauty, anti-aging, and slimming too.

Ginnie added in a special kind of red vinegar sauce that is popular in Hong Kong to make the vegan soup more flavourful. After tasting Ginnie’s recipe, there is no more excuses saying vegan soup can not replace the shark fin and crab meat soup, which is so beloved by Chinese diners across the Asia.

Ginnie also showed us how to boil a special Hong Kong Herbal Tea that can soothe away the heat of our tropical climate. It also serves as a wonderful substitute to the traditional Turtle Jelly concoction that uses turtle parts in its making.

Ginnie was using ShangChu Series of stock pot to prepare her dishes during the demonstration. Using high quality clay fired at a high temperature, its durable and thick pot body is able to withstand extreme temperature changes. The stock pot has good heat retention, which able to maintain the food’s original flavour and temperature for a longer period.

Ocean Hero Conservation Run’s main objective is to educate the importance of conserving Marine Life and Ocean Sustainability in line with United Nations SDG 14 Life Below Water. Themed ‘Plastic-Free Ocean’, the run also aims to spread the message about the serious issue of plastic pollution that affects the entire ocean and we are responsible to protect the sustainable Eco-System and Eco-Tourism of our environment.

Priced at RM75 per adult and RM65 per kid below 12 years old, the Ocean Hero Conservation Run will take part at Sunsuria City Sepang on 2nd March 2019. Those who are interested can check out their facebook page at fb.com/oceanheroconservation.

Thanks to Ginnie, I learned 2 very easy-to-make recipes that can help to save the lives of shark fish and turtle. Marine life will get a boost if we stop consuming wonderful sea creatures and more importantly, choose to be healthy in our dietary ways.
