Thanks for the wonderful invitation, I recently went to the launching event of Café Amazon at Central i-City Shah Alam by PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (“PTTOR”).
The grand launch marked 2 significant milestones – the opening of the 1st Café Amazon outlet in Malaysia, and the 9th country in Asia or the 2,808th branch worldwide.
Café Amazon is PTTOR’s owned coffee brand since the year of 2002. The mission of Café Amazon is to provide a variety of services to better serve their valued customers at PTT Station – a rest stop and a place to relax, especially for commuters, with delectable refreshing beverages and snacks.
The opening ceremony of the 1st Café Amazon in Malaysia was attended by distinguished guests including H.E. Narong Sasitorn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Ms. Jiraphon Kawswat, PTTOR’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Sudhitham Chirathivat, Chairman of the Advisory Board, Central Group of Companies, and Mr. Wan Kamaruddin, Chairman of Smart Akilli Sendirian Berhad.
I like the “Green Oasis” concept at Café Amazon. All branches in Thailand and overseas share the same theme with a lush and nature-like setting while all its operations are environmentally friendly.
The team use bio-degradable cups and straws to serve the drinks. Plastic bags are replaced by paper counterparts. Wooden spoons, forks and knives are also used instead of plastic cutlery.
The team of Café Amazon Malaysia localized some of its drinks and snack menus to better meet with Malaysians’s preferences. Such customized services and offerings are tailored to deliver the best possible customer experience in the market.
Aiming to be the leading Thai global brand, PTTOR, a flagship company of PTT Group, want to enrich the community values through oil, retail, and related businesses in both domestic and international markets, inclusively with all stakeholders to achieve a sustainable growth together.
Café Amazon has enjoyed not only an increasing in number of branches but also an incremental sales per branch every year. In 2018, it sold 225 million cups of drinks. At present, it operates over 2,800 branches in 9 countries, namely Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Japan, and Oman. PTTOR keeps expanding its network internationally to make Café Amazon a real global brand in the near future.
