Thanks for the wonderful invitation, I recently went to the launching event of myNEWS, Malaysia’s largest homegrown retail convenience store chain, its Japanese-inspired food production centre. The production centre, which operates under its subsidiaries, myNEWS Ryoyupan Sdn Bhd and myNEWS Kineya Sdn Bhd, will supply myNEWS stores with a wide array of high quality ready-to-eat foods.
You can now enjoy hassle-free options of grab-and-go Japanese-inspired foods catered to Malaysians taste buds, ranging from sandwiches, onigiri, bento, freshly baked breads from own bakery line Maru Bakes, as well as hot and cold beverages from myNEWS Maru Kafe, while not forgetting mouth-watering local delicacies such as curry laksa and nasi lemak.
“Understanding the need to cater for the busy lifestyle and increasing affluence of Malaysians who demand convenient access to retail stores, particularly quality food for convenience and fast consumption, we have taken the initiative to bring in renowned food industry players from Japan as partners,” said Mr Dang Tai Luk, Group CEO of myNEWS Holdings Berhad.
myNEWS’ food production centre, which started commercial production in June 2019, is able to support up to 600 outlets via 2 manufacturing plants that are driven by Gourmet Kineya Co Ltd and Ryoyu Baking Co Ltd, which are leaders and experts in Japanese food industry in Japan.
“We love the concept of convenience stores in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand where customers can walk in and enjoy exactly what they want. Here at myNEWS, we want our customers to have a similar experience, and now we have the capability to offer just that – convenience with quality,” added Mr Luk.
So, the next time when you are hungry and want some quick delicious food, just go to myNEWS and grab their ready-to-eat selections from Maru Kafe, which include Maru Cream, a soft-serve ice cream; Maru Coffee, and Maru Bakes‘ freshly made bakery products that are developed in a controlled environment at myNEWS’ food production centre in Kota Damansara.
In addition to the Maru brand of offerings, there is also a wide selection of rice and noodle-based meals. It is available at more than 300 selected myNEWS outlets in Klang Valley.
You can also check out their myNEWS DASH online delivery service, which recently launched to coincide with the announcement of its food production centre. Riding on the new awareness of its stringent ready-to-eat food standards, it is a strategic move intended to push its quality products beyond the outlets, directly to consumers. “myNEWS DASH is an online delivery service, a hassle-free option for customers who wish to have their food and daily needs delivered to their doorstep,” Mr Luk concluded.
Since its inception in December 1996, myNEWS has grown successfully and is currently serving more than 5 million customers per month at over 500 outlets nationwide. Having grown from a single traditional news-stand 23 years ago, myNEWS Group now owns the largest Japanese driven ready-to-eat product line, and the opening of its food production centre marks another important milestone for the homegrown brand in the fastest growing and changing segment of the retail industry.
