It was my first visit to Kwai Chai Hong, and I immediately fall in love to this vibrant place of Chinatown in Kuala Lumpur.
Located at Lorong Panggung, the team behind the latest tourist hotspot aims to offer visitors meaningful and memorable experiences, taking them on a journey back in time to the 1960s golden era of KL Chinatown with artistically restored pre-war buildings.
The project involved 10 restored shoplots, six fronting Jalan Petaling and another four units along Lorong Panggung, as well as a backlane in between the two roads.
We had a media tour led by Zeen Chang, the managing partner of Bai Chuan Management Sdn Bhd, which is the space management company behind Kwai Chai Hong. She brought us around and visited some of the shoplots, while explained the stories and ideas behind this project with so much patience.
Try to spot the QR code placed beside the wall mural, and discover the surprises that can help you to know Kwai Chai Hong better.
Get ready with your camera and OOTD pose ideas as Kwai Chai Hong features many instagram-curated spots with artistic and interactive murals. I took this hero wall mural from the balcony at Concubine, a flirtatious and funky restaurant bar inspired by the events that took place within its walls.
From Asian cuisine to western delights, wet your taste buds with varieties of scrumptious food and drinks at Kwai Chai Hong’s F&B outlets, which include Bubble Bee Cafe, The Soybean Factory, Pandan Republic, Concubine KL, Bunn Choon, Asia Street Food Club, and DaBao.
My favourite corner at The Soybean Factory with warm natural sunlight and a perfect view of Kwai Chai Hong. Almost every spot here is insta-worthy as you savour in their healthy desserts like Tau Fu Fah, Soy Milk, Soy Shaved Ice, and Soy Pudding.
The retro-styled interior design at Asia Street Food Club really wowed me with its mini museum of artifacts that will bring you back in time. While surrounding yourselves with the awesome ambience here, do not forget to check out their tasty Malaysian and Thai street food as well.
