Veuve Clicquot Celebrates its 250th Anniversary of Excellence, Joy & Optimism with an Ode to Solaire
Veuve Clicquot, the iconic champagne House, has long been a symbol of profound optimism, boldness, and steadfast resilience.
To commemorate its 250th anniversary and years of excellence, Veuve Clicquot recently celebrated the special occasion with its winemaker, Marie Charlemagne at an exclusive gastronomy experience in Beta KL, featuring its iconic Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label on her maiden trip to Malaysia.
Its 250-year heritage was celebrated with avant-garde culture and its iconic yellow colour. The celebration showcased the House’s ability to reinvent itself in oenology and design through inspiration and innovation.
The 250th anniversary, as part of its House’s solaire culture expresses one of Madame Clicquot’s convictions that each new day opens new paths to build a brighter future, the brand also featured its iconic bottle design illustrating the solaire nature of Veuve Clicquot, featuring the colour of the rising sun that has been included on its labels since 1877 – is the first embodiment at the celebrations.
Commenting on the anniversary celebration, Chief Marketing & Communications, Veuve Clicquot, Carole Bildé said “More than an anniversary, this is an ode to joy, optimism, and the audacious resilience that began with Madame Clicquot, la grande dame of Champagne. Our 250th anniversary embodies Veuve Clicquot’s belief that every sunrise promises endless opportunities.”
Veuve Clicquot also continues to honour Madame Clicquot’s legacy also known as “la grande dame de la Champagne,” with the celebration. Veuve Clicquot’s design and innovation has garnered the world’s most creative and innovative awards. This is a testament to Veuve Clicqout’s long standing culture of design and innovation that began with Madame Clicquot who believed that the appearance of champagne was as important as its taste. She contributed to the design of the champagne bottle we know today, driven by a desire to combine aesthetics and functionality. Her legacy has been preserved by the House of Veuve Clicquot, which remains a leader in creating exceptional objects and gift boxes.
The celebration was graced by Marie Charlemagne, expert winemaker at Veuve Clicquot, who shared “Veuve Clicquot has an exceptional winemaking heritage, and benefits from one of largest reserve-wine palettes in Champagne – if not the largest. This heritage is tightly linked with the destiny of an exceptional woman: Madame Clicquot. Her affection for the grape variety Pinot Noir, of which she perceived the infinite richness and adaptability, still enables us to create the unique signature of our champagnes today. I am happy to follow in the footsteps of my predecessors, and, along with all the House’s teams, to perpetuate more than two centuries of know-how and excellence in designing a champagne as iconic as Yellow Label Brut.”
The Veuve Clicquot vineyard, established from historic plots in Verzy, Verzenay, and Bouzy, has grown into one of the largest in the Champagne region. Madame Clicquot and the next generation of vineyard directors at Veuve Clicquot were instrumental in developing the vineyard, which now spans 393 hectares and supplies the House with grapes. The vineyard’s exceptional quality is reflected in its distribution over the best Crus in Champagne, with an average classification close to 96% based on winegrowing characteristics and grape quality.
As part of the event, a select group of guests were treated to an exclusive tasting of the Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne, paired with the culinary creations of Beta KL’s renowned chef, each dish is a harmonious union of flavours that elevates the dining experience to new heights.
Veuve Clicqout’s expert winemaker Marie Charlemagne joined them and took guests on a historical and enhancing tasting journey of its iconic Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label.
