Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to DOUTOR Malaysia‘s Sunway Velocity outlet for some of their mouth-watering signatures as well as coffee beverages brewed with good quality beans.
Founded as a roaster in 1962, and started their first coffee shop in 1980, DOUTOR’s founder, Hiromichi Toriba has been dedicating his life to coffee. With over 1,200 outlets throughout the world, DOUTOR plans to bring quality coffee and food with a touch of Japanese elements to Malaysia coupled with excellent customer service.
DOUTOR Malaysia’s must-try beverage menu include Hand Brew Coffee, Creme Brulee Latte, Honey Cafe Latte, Matcha Latte, and this Military Latte (RM16), a special recipe of expresso, milk and matcha to give the perfect balance of all flavours on your taste bud. Their baristas are trained with unique Japanese skills and craft to bring out those distinct nuances of coffee.
Following the ‘3 Fresh‘ philosophy – freshly roasted, freshly ground, and freshly brewed, DOUTOR Malaysia aims nothing but the freshest quality coffee is served at their outlets. Hand Brew Coffee with Hario V60 is available at DOUTOR Malaysia, you can choose to taste their House Blend (RM9) or Single Origin (RM12).
Their house blend is a well-balanced blend of Central American Coffee with sweetness and smooth body. We also tried the single origin from Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Misty Valley (upon availability) with natural process that has distinct fruity sweetness with a hint of pineapple and berry taste.
My sweetheart Crème Brulee Latte (RM16), a combination of caramelized sugar and freshly brewed coffee slowly touched up with a blowtorch.

Served with toasted brioche loaf, Sandwiches at DOUTOR Malaysia are freshly prepared upon order, choices including Shrimp & Tuna (RM14), Sukiyaki Beef & Tamago (RM15), Tuna Cheddar (RM12), and Teriyaki Chicken & Tamago (RM13), a hearty sandwich that we had consists of teriyaki chicken, egg mayo, lettuce, tomato and wasabi mayo.
For egg lovers, please your palates with choices of Omu Wraps such as Teriyaki Chicken & Tamago (RM14), Sukiyaki Beef & Tamago (RM16), and Shrimp & Tuna (RM15), with ingredients like spicy shrimp, tuna, lettuce, tomato, onion and wasabi mayo wrapped in a thin egg sheet.
Diners can choose to have mayonnaise, wasabi mayo or mentai mayo to go with their sandwich and omu wrap.
Mentaiko (the salted roe of Alaska pollock) pasta has became very common and popular in Japan recently. Serving in reasonable good portion to satisfy your hunger, come try out this Mentai Shrimp (RM17) at DOUTOR Malaysia, a pasta dish cooked with shrimp, shimeji mushroom, and spaghetti topped with mentaiko, thin nori strips and chopped spring onion.
Inspired by Japanese elements and ingredients, this Ratatouille (RM15) was baked together with capsicum, eggplant, cucumber, onion, and sesame rice in flavourful tomato puree topped with mozzarella cheese for the creamy texture.

You can also indulge a range of cakes, desserts and imported pastries from France, like this Croffle (RM7) with an interesting recipe of croissant and waffle.
DOUTOR Malaysia’s exquisite selection of Mille Crepe Cakes, this green tea flavour served with their authentic matcha powder to create that irresistible bite that you can’t resist.

It’s great that this coffee joint opened in Malaysia! I visited the outlets quite often when I was in Japan and loved it
