Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently had the chance to create my own sushi at Okonomi Japanese Restaurant that located inside the Publika Solaris Kuala Lumpur. The name ‘Okonomi’ was literally means ‘as you like it’ in Japanese. Hence, customers are allowed to create their own dish creatively here at Okonomi that best suit their own taste buds.

Okonomi sushis are prepared in 3 easy steps. Customers can choose to have either 3 (RM13.90), 4 (RM16.90) or 5 (RM19.90) fillings inside your sushi, which will complimented with a sauce and topping each.

First, pick your wrap or base that could either be the Nori (seaweed), Soywrap (imported from USA for those who does not like the strong flavour of seaweed), or opt for salad to be prepared as the base.
Next, choose either white rice or brown rice, before choosing your favourite fillings from a huge selection ranging from the Fruits and Veggies category (asparagus, carrot, coral lettuce, Japanese cucumber, tamago, alfalfa, French beans, seaweed, red coral lettuce, cherry tomato, green apple, pickled cucumber, mixed mushrooms, avocado, marinated tofu skin, strawberry, olive, onion and mango), to Seafoods and Meats like the salmon, shredded chicken, crab stick, baby octopus, jelly fish, tuna mayo, fried salmon, seasoned scallop, boiled egg, katsu chicken and teriyaki chicken.
Customers can also upgrade to premium fillings with additional RM5 each for marinated lobster, hokkaido crab meat, smoked salmon, spicy tuna, soft shell crab, smoked duck, breaded tiger prawn, tempura tiger prawn, Japanese scallop and unagi.
Finally, complete your sushi making by select a sauce and a topping from the vast selection that exceeds 40 different types of healthy items, such as mentai mayo, spicy mentai mayo, cheddar mayo, black pepper sauce, sesame sauce, mayo, kiwi mayo, garlic mayo, wasabi mayo, curry sauce, yukke sauce, honey mustard sauce, spicy mayo, teriyaki sauce, sweet chilli sauce, citrus salad dressing, wafu salad dressing, sesame salad dressing, wasabi salad dressing and thousand island salad dressing for the Sauces and Dressings, while for the Toppings customers can have ebiko, tobiko, fish flakes, bird’s eye chilli, white sesame, tempura crunch, black sesame, tongarashi, spring onion, raisin, cereal, crouton, seaweed flake, fried garlic chip, grated parmesan cheese, or furikake. Again, you can have additional sauce or topping for RM1 each.

Crab Korokke (RM9.90)
Gently cooked the ingredients like crab meat, butter, full cream milk and whipping cream together in low heat for about an hour, this crispy deep fried breaded Crab Korokke that sold limited daily was super satisfying with its creamy flavorful texture.

Chicken Karaage (RM9.90)
Battered with cereal first, chef deep fried these caramelized kimchi flavoured chicken tenders till golden brown perfection. According to chef, the meat was cut proportionally so that we can taste a smoother texture, which delivered so much satisfaction with every bite.

Chocolate Lava Cake (RM14.90)
Served together with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sticks and fresh strawberries coated with powdered sugar, indulge your sweet tooth with this rich chocolate cake that has warm chocolate molten lava oozing out from the center and beautifully drizzled with my favorite Belgian chocolate syrup.

Macha Lovers Parfait (RM18.90)
I was screaming out loud from my heart when chef served this dessert to our table.
A twist of their classic Azuki Shiratama Parfait, made especially to satisfy the matcha lovers, this beautiful crafted dessert was layered with kanten jelly and matcha syrup, topped with soft serve matcha ice cream, a layer of corn flakes, garnished with a matcha ice cream scoop, red bean paste, rice mochi and whipped cream all drizzled with matcha syrup. My favourite would be the additional matcha chocolate bamboo stick that I kept it for last to savour with much love!
Besides Azuki Shiratama Parfait and Macha Lovers Parfait, Okonomi also serves Strawberry and Chocolate flavoured parfait.
