Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel for their sixth annual Global Day of Discovery (GDoD), where 160 hotels around the world celebrated it on the same day which is 17 May 2017.
Created to encourage business travelers to experience “5 to 9” with as much vigor as they approach their “9 to 5”, Global Day of Discovery hosts unexpected hotel events and neighborhood experiences that bring an unusual taste of the local scene to life in more than 35 countries around the world.

As part of the Global Day of Discovery’s celebration and with the completion of Phase 2 renovation, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel showcased its various categories of the newly renovated and luxurious rooms to the guests.
The ongoing third phase of the renovation is the redesign of its Club Lounge, Club rooms and suites, expected to be completed in October. All of the West Wing rooms will then showcase a fresh and contemporary design reflecting the key personalities of a Renaissance Social Discoverer who celebrates all things that contribute to living a life less ordinary.
DJ Jason played behind the console to deliver entertainment for the evening while saxophonist Goh Boon Aik blew his horn and local talent Anding Indrawani sang beautiful tunes for the guests’ listening pleasure.
Renaissance Hotels believes business travel is always an opportunity to discover. Starting with a bar ritual, guests had the opportunity to discover ‘Hibiscus‘, a refreshing cocktail and mocktail specially created for the evening.
Headed by World Association of Chefs’ Societies Global Master Chef Executive Chef Helmut Lamberger, the culinary team presented a superb selection of intriguing delights for guests to savour.
Guests also had a merry time with hilarious props posing for The Magical Journey, who provides photography and photographs of the unforgettable evening. During the Q&A session and Lucky Draws, many attractive hotel accommodations at Renaissance Hotels and Resorts within the Asia Pacific region were up for grabs.
