Ah Weng Koh Hainan Tea & Coffee
Thanks for the wonderful invitation, I recently went to ICC Pudu at Kuala Lumpur for the launching ceremony of Ah Weng Koh Hainan Tea Retail Pack, which also marked a new milestone for this 50-year-old establishment, signifying its entrance into a brand-new era.
Created by Mr Tan Chik Kai and has passed down for generations, I enjoy Ah Weng Koh Hainan Tea for its rich yet smooth texture and fragrant Hainan tea. It is a blend of the world’s best Indian black tea together with quality Arabica and Robusta coffee beans.
From a sip, you will first taste a hearty coffee aroma, followed by the intense flavor of the silky milk tea. The perfect concoction will leave you with a distinctive aftertaste, promising a definite indulgence to your senses.
Like most of the Hainanese immigrants landed on the Nanyang shores in those days, Mr Tan started his livelihood by providing catering services for the colonial government officials and merchants.
In 1964, Mr Tan started Ah Weng Koh Hainan Tea stall, a then-rather-insignificant beverages stall in Kuala Lumpur. The stall has since grown from its original location at Pasar Bukit Bintang (current location of Fahrenheit 88 and Lot 10), to Pasar Baru Bukit Bintang (Imbi Market) and finally ICC Pudu.
The Retail Pack is manufactured under strict product quality management, from the weight of tea leaves and coffee beans to the temperature used in production. Ah Weng Koh Hainan Tea has passed all HACCP, ISO22000 and GMP System certifications, ensuring the most original taste under the best quality control. It is also in the progress of JAKIM Halal certified application.
I can now bring along this nostalgic taste to wherever I want and have an instant cup of perfect brew simply by adding in hot water. Each box of Ah Weng Koh Hainan Tea Retail Pack consists of 10 sachets, weighing 40g each.
You can get Ah Weng Koh Hainan Tea Retail Pack at major local online shopping platforms such as Lazada, Shopee, Homedeal, 11 Street etc. It is also available through e-commerce platforms in Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand, as well as AirAsia’s online platform ROKKI. The subsequent step for Ah Weng Koh is to continue to expand their offline market, concentrating at local souvenir store and tourist spot.
Besides the Retail Pack, Ah Weng Koh strikes to continue bring new inventions into the market, including Ah Weng Koh Hainan Tea Soft Serve, Ah Weng Koh Sugar Free Hainan Tea and Ah Weng Koh Kaya that are in the pipeline.
Ah Weng Koh Hainan Tea has garnered the support of many for the past 50 years. It has become a must-try to many locals and foreign tourists. The authentic Hainan Tea is a special flavour the pride of Malaysians. It is also a must buy souvenir that represents the taste of Kuala Lumpur.
