Thanks to the wonderful invitation, I recently went to Chez Gaston to try out some of their signature French cuisine. Situated in the heart of Bangsar, Chez Gaston, a traditional French restaurant and bar, is only few minutes away from Telawi streets and 1 minute from the LRT station Bangsar.
Owned by the friendly Chef Florian Nigen, his family also runs a well-known restaurant in Bretagne, France for 30 years.
Refreshing Seafood Salad (RM20 small ; RM29 large) featuring homemade smoked salmon, slow cooked soft prawns, squid, mussels and clams marinated in appetizing citrus dressing. Served on green salad and orange segment, this chef recommended salad is surely leave your senses craving for more!
Next, the French Onion and Bacon Soup (RM15). Served with cheesy baguette on top, this roasted onion and beef stock soup is a very satisfying tummy-warmer with bacon inside to enrich the texture and taste.
This Escargots Bourguignon (RM22) is one of the chef recommendation dishes at Chez Gaston with snails baked in homemade garlic and herbs butter. Chewy in texture with simple yet fragrant flavours, very satisfying!
Served with baguette at side, these succulent Mussels (RM18) are simply delicious to savour although just baked with garlic and herbs as chef wish to retain as much of its natural flavour.
Chef Florian puts all his knowledge and heart into preparing our dinner featuring typical French meaty and seafood dishes along with delicious French desserts. Served on a bed of slow cooked capsicum, chef makes this Grilled Chicken Chop (RM32) even more scrumptiously irresistible to the palette with melted goat cheese and honey on top the dish.
For seafood lovers, you can opt for Salmon Bordelaise, Hake Grenobloise, Prawns Moscato, or this Seabass Saffron (RM39) cooked with delicious saffron creamy sauce.
We ended our dinner with homemade Apple Pie (RM12), a traditional French dessert that filled with cinnamon apple compote. Their signature Chocolate Cake (RM12) with light dark chocolate mousse is something that you must not missed as well.
Offering popular French beverages, spirits, alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, you can also indulge from an extensive wine list at Chez Gaston consisting eclectic range of wines starting from RM22+ per glass. The restaurant also offers a large range of wines and french delicacies to take away at more affordable price then surrounding grocery stores.
Overall, it was a lovely dining experience at Chez Gaston with affordable authentic French cuisine and a laid-back ambiance. This place is truly relaxing to enjoy great food and drinks with family and friends. Since Chez Gaston is not located in the busiest part of Bangsar, so the parking is quite easy near the restaurant.
